When your music is featured in films, it must be of the highest quality, and many popular artists who’s tracks make an appearance only do so once or twice, but not for Sonu Nigam. He has composed the score for four feature length films, as well as having had his own tracks played in many others, this shows the true talent and versatility of a musician.
His pop-rock and semi classical genre of music is fresh and exciting for listeners, and unleashes a new style of music for many western listeners, as the majority of his music is not written in the English language. He’s also collaborated with huge artists such as Britney Spears, and has therefore made himself more accessible to a wide genre of listeners.
In concert, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as his music is so versatile, but I was pleasantly surprised that he showcased the versatility of his talent, by performing tracks from his playback films, and also songs from his album. His tv presenting characteristics were also great to see live, as he carried himself very well, and was confident and jokey with the audience. He taught the audience segments of his choruses, and had everyone singing along which was a great touch. I’d definitely recommend seeing him live.
