Caught the tail end of her act at a Sunflower Bean gig in Bristol last year. It's one of those moments when you REALLY wish that you'd made the effort to turn up early to check out the support. To their credit, Sunflower Bean also lined up Miya Folick in the SAME GIG who I enjoyed immensely, but Miss Stark put on such an incredible performance in both vocals and eroticism. The band weren't to shabby either. I'd never heard of her before turning up and was instantly reminded of The Cramps, but more sexy - even more than Poison Ivy - and less camp. Checking out her videos, I can see that Jesse isn't afraid to leverage her sensuality. In her live performance, there was something fragile and broken hiding under the surface but her power and confidence maintained control.
This woman is clearly loaded, having rich parents, and uber-connected in ways the Band she was supporting could only dream. Usually that would instantly strike her off my list but I find myself here on Songkick hoping that Jesse comes back to the UK soon so I can catch her act in full.
