Destructo is the pseudonym that Gary Richards uses when he performs live. He is an American music executive, a concert promoter and a DJ. He founded HARD Events, a concert platform that has put on huge music festivals since 2007 and was later acquired in 2012 by Live Nation Entertainment, one of the biggest in the world. As a DJ, he has performed under the name Destructo for over twenty years, touring around the world. He is hailed as one of the most important people in EDM giving artists such as Deadmau5, God Lives Underwater and Basement Jaxx a leg up into the limelight.
His live shows are just another thing that is fun to watch with his sets being pretty explosive entertaining audiences of up to 20,000 at a time, all of which dancing as hard as they can, jumping up and down with fists in the air. One of the biggest hits for him is his remix of “Super Freak” originally by Rick James. Everyone around me is astounded by this guy’s talent.
His show was incredible. His style of techno that he played was intense, especially when he dropped the song "I Dare You 2 Move," and that was when the crowd went really wild. Destructo set the Roseland on fire that night, and made this weekend the best of my school year so far despite the fact that I went alone, decided not to dance on stage with Destructo, and couldn't meet him.
The show was a lot of fun. Nice venue. Smaller than some places EDM shows are usually at, but comfortable. Hot on the dance floor, but that's how it should be. :P Sound system could have been a little better, but it was fun nonetheless!
