Biografía
Macy is a graceful soul has have blessed us all with her presence and took to the dangerous music world and came out better for it. Too many sweethearts get tortured in the music business, but Gracy kept a cool head and rose above all that nonsense, and produced soulful music for years.
Her debut album 'On How Life Is' back in 1999 defined her as the RnB angel. Her voice was the introduction to the soon to be RnB angel gone bad Amy Winehouse, which many people forget. Her sound was a more upbeat modern twist on Etta James. It sounds similar to Joss Stone and some could even suggest maybe Dido.
The song of this album 'I Try' was the game changer for Macy. She was now the soul queen and this smash hit won Song of the year at the Grammys in 2001 as well as a record of the year. A national treasure was born!
However this American goddess could not reach the summits of her first album success. Her second album did not excel expectation in the US, but to be fair went straight in at number one in the UK charts.
Her musical career began getting patchy and distorted, but Macy went onto to produced a staggering 6 albums in her career and is currently touring as a new album 'The Way' is soon to be released.
She isn't so much a chart hitting success now but more confined to a niche market and its fitted her just right. We don't want this sweetheart getting thrown around like a ball in the music business, she needs to be treated like a princess, a princess with a beautiful voice.

Who hasn’t heard of Macy Gray? And who doesn’t enjoy her cooly enticing vocals? Neo-soul legend Macy Gray can do more than sing though; she brings her talents to the stage with ease and finesse and is more than capable of brewing up a mysterious and intimate atmosphere in virtually any venue she enters. Gray’s sense of humour and effortless nonchalance mean that she does not struggle to hold a crowd’s attention, and her silky voice on songs such as ‘I try’ and ‘Relating to a Psycopath’ provide the audience with the dose of soul they came for. Her support band, who Gray does not forget to introduce, are an undeniably talented group of performers who provide Gray with the platform her voice so justly deserves. When a singer like Gray throws a brilliant cover of Thom Yorke’s ‘creep’ into the mix, you cannot fail to appreciate the talent that is being put on show! If you get the opportunity to see her sing in the flesh, don’t miss out!
I saw her show in Leuven, Belgium. It was a great performance, great voice control, good connection with the audience, funny, and moving. All band members are impressivly talented, and it shows during the solo's. Most of the songs are performed as creative variations on the CD-versions, sometimes with covers of other artists mixed in between, very well done!
I saw Macy Gray 17 years ago and she is still as fabulous as ever! Her voice is amazing and her quirky, fun stage presence makes her a delight to see. She did primarily older, popular songs with a few new ones and some covers mixed in...a fantastic time!
Macy Gray is an ENTERTAINER !
She engaged with her fans, and
did not disappoint. (The show started
45 minutes late, but Macy made up
for the delay). I would highly recommend
her show and am looking forward to hearing
her again.
Great venue. Great show. A dream fulfilled. Her band was on fire. She just better and better, lyrically and vocally. I do, however, wish she had performed more songs from her recent catalog and most recent cd.
My wife and I went to her concert in Prague this OCT 2022. It was not Macy Gray as we remembered her 15 years ago. It was club music, DJ set during her rest time, she spoke 70% of the time.
Disappointed.
