Highly recommend going to see the Honeydrops! It was my first time seeing them, and they are definitely one of the best live bands I've seen. The Honeydrops played for a verrrrry long time and the crowd was dancing the entire time. The lead singer/trumpet player and saxophonist stole the show in my opinion, but each member of the band had a few highlights. Even the rhythm percussionist had a jaw dropping bongo solo.
The only downside was that it was apparent the Trombonist was not accustomed to playing with them. He was very talented, but I'm sure if they had a full time Trombonist he would be better integrated with the bands and not have to be cued over and over by the Saxophoist.
It's obvious by how many repeat concert attendees there were that the Honeydrops always put on a good show. I know that I'll definitely go see them again when they're back in the area.
I love these dudes. They're fun, lively, and incredibly talented. The NYE show at UC Theater in Berkeley was my third time seeing them live. They were stellar as always. The previous two shows I attended were at The Fillmore in San Francisco (awesome) and Tractor Tavern in Seattle on Halloween (awesome). I 100% recommend seeing them live if you get the chance!
These guys were incredible from start to finish. Maybe the best show I've seen all year next to JJ Grey and Mofro at HOB. I was so pleasantly surprised at their live presence and energy. The crowd was dancing the whole time and it never let up. Two sets and 2 encore songs. Great venue and great prices. All around the best show in a while.
Awesome live show, great energy, it really felt like a dance party! It was a sold out show at Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz so it was a little too crowded for my liking. They had a very good opening band from Brooklyn. All in all, I would definitely recommend this live show!
Best Group of musicians, so much talent, and they have great stage presence, all the instruments, jyst plain fun, and did I mention the Dancing? Absolutely l8ve them! Hoping they will be on the 2025 Sandy Beaches cruise
Awesome bluesy performance. I would like maybe a tad less improvising and more songs (which I know and love) in my opinion.
I would definitely see them again and I continue to buy their albums.
