When bands successfully combine multiple genres to create a really original sound, it’s a real demonstration of their talent and commitment to their work. The Motet are one of the bands whose crossover music I enjoy the most, with their funk, afrobeat, jazz, and rock music coming together into a really exciting and organic genre. After having listened to their music for several years, I began hearing from various places that they’re well known for their energetic live shows with their awesome energy and live performance abilities, so I was desperate to check them out. Understandably, I had high hopes, and I can say that I wasn’t at all disappointed.
They sound almost identical live as they do on the recordings which was awesome, as they use analogue recording equipment to maintain the live sound, and when they opened the show with Dig Deep, everyone was singing along straight away. Jams Ingber was shouting out to everyone in the crowd to sing along, and they won the audience over straight away. It’s remarkable how they maintain their performance standards with the amount of dancing they do around the stage, but every note was spot on. The merge of instruments such as the saxophone, and electric guitar worked wonderfully, and it really was a great show.
Well, for those of you who didn't see last nights show at the Bearsville Theatre - you missed an amazing show!!! These guys are crazy talented musicians. If you were not familiar with this band, you should have looked them up because if you had, you would have been there too!!
I couldn't wait to see them live. Been listening to them for over a year now and wish I'd known about them sooner!! The lead singer has a great voice and some funky cool dance moves. He really engages the audience. I didn't stop dancing the entire night!
They played all my favorite songs!!! Thanks guys! I felt you put the show on just for me!
