Biografía
It makes sense to hold the idea that teenage pop stars would make absolutely cutting edge music, setting trends themselves by being more on the ball than anyone older than them. However, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis show that the opposite can be just as true. The band play a blend of jump blues, swing and old school rock ‘n’ roll that seems more appropriate for a period drama set in the 1950’s than today’s pop charts. It seems almost too good to be true, but this is a story that can’t be made up. The siblings were born into a highly musical family, with their father Graeme and their mother Ingrid backing them up live to this day on the guitar and double bass respectively.
This chemistry worked wonders for the band and by 2008, when their first album was coming out, none of them were 20 yet, and the youngest of them, Kitty, was only 15. The trio came to fame thanks to their thrilling live show, which sees the whole trio switch between playing guitar, drums, keys, harmonica, banjo and practically every other instrument under the sun. It won over everyone from Ewan McGregor to Dustin Hoffman to Chris Martin and Johnny Borrell, the latter of whom would take the band on the road and have them open for them in cavernous arenas in the U.K and the U.S. They’ve also opened for the famed American jam band Phish at a show in Seattle, Washington, showing just how far reaching their sound is.
The best part is that the project is working, although they’ve never quite seen true commercial success. February 2015 saw them sell out the 1’100 capacity Electric Ballroom in Camden and they have played sets at the Glastonbury, Coachella and Latitude Festivals to name but a few. Slowly but surely the band are becoming true cult heroes, and they are truly peerless, in every sense of the word. For that, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis come highly recommended.

I have been following Kitty, Daisy and Lewis for some years now and it is always a feel good experience to see this family group in action, live. Tonight though was the least that I have enjoyed one of their gigs. Quite simply, whoever was on the sound desk should be sent back to university. All nuance and subtlety was lost in a swamp like haze of bass heavy sludge. Hi hat? Might just as well not had one. Snare? Like a biscuit tin covered in felt. Rhythm guitar? I thought Dad had not turned up.
Bass drum, however, was like mortar shells in a war zone. Bass guitar, from Ingrid, (or upright bass), created a soupy like atmosphere reminiscent of London's 18th century fogs.
The style of their music relies on a lightness of touch familiar with the vintage artists that they emulate so brilliantly. Ska? Think light and bouncy. R&B? Think, punchy, yet vibrant. What they delivered here was closer to the Rich Kids produced by Mick Ronson.
My partner was disappointed by the amount of new material over old, but on that I disagree. Not only does a band have to progress, but I feel that in this case the new songs are a neat move forward, with fire and skill.
So, a bad evening for me? No way. I recommend to any one to go see this splendid band, but just not at The Electric Ballroom. Of course, this could be their own sound person, in which case I reckon they should have word.
been wanting to see this band since their first album release but they dont do many gigs in the midlands so i took up the chance when i found out they were playing leeds . i come from nottingham so decided to make a weekend of it and booked a hotel close by . the venue was stylish with a good bar and friendly staff. kitty , Daisy and Lewis played a good set and above my expectation and i also had the pleasure of meeting them and having a chat . so yes a great time was had and i look forward to another one ......

Amazing final concert of their 2018 tour in Glasgow Art School. The crowd was unfortunately small but all the more enthusiastic. The band was in a very good mood and played a long and exciting. I cannot imagine that anybody would not enjoy their music!
Amazing! These guys are the best, they connected with the crowd from minute one and what is more important, they know how to play. I am already waiting to see you again in Madrid or Granada!
