Let’s get this out the way first. Whomadewho are a very, very cool band. They’re a Copenhagan based dance-punk/experimental pop trio who’ve worked with and remixed everyone from Hot Chip, to The Rapture, to Josh Homme and to Peaches. However. Whomadewho are one of the very, very few bands that don’t seem to be cool out of any sort of posture, that’s just how they roll. Which is kind of infuriating in and of itself but that’s more my problem than anything. Our problem. I meant Ours. Anyway! The other thing that makes Whomadewho as unmissable as they are is that they are unafraid of marrying experimental weirdness up with impossibly catchy tunes and ridiculous disco beats which make their live shows as much a feast for the heart and the hips as they are for the head. Teasing their tracks out to near ten minute remixes with as many badass drops as there are electronic freak outs all wrapped together with Tomas Høffding’s delectable falsetto, they’re a band one can have a lot of fun bragging to their hipper-than-thou friends about seeing, while still having a ton of fun actually going to see. We need more of their like around, and that’s without even getting to their cover of Benny Benassi’s Satisfaction. Ridiculous. Fun. Cool. Everything a band should be and a live band to see as soon as possible.
Who Made Who is the Danish band hailing from the capital, who have been around for the last decade, crafting their breed of dance punk for the masses. Their sound is experimental, but engaging, always making an audience want to dance. They have played alongside the genre bending contemporaries, Daft Punk Soulwax, Hot Chip, and LCD Soundsystem. They gained a huge following after they headlined the Benicassim festival in 2007 after a delay caused scheduled headliners Klaxons to arrive too late to play their set.
Tonight this party hungry audience are ready for their fill of Who Made Who’s complete works, excited for new rumoured material, and most of all, ready to dance all night long. They launch into their spell bounding set, creating a buzz in this room, which has started jumping as soon as the beat kicks in. “Space for Rent” is huge this evening, with every song making the audience sing out loud and maintain the buzz throughout the evening.
