Biografía
Originally comprised of lead singer Reyli Barba along with musicians Ahis, Iguana, Javi Cantero, Rafael “Rafa” López”, and Luis Pórtela, Elefante formed in the early 1990s. Following years of honing their musical and performance skills, the group earned their big breakthrough in 2000 being invited to open for Joaquín Sabina at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional. The following year Elefante represented Mexico at the largest Chilean music festival Viña del Mar, performing the song “De la Noche a la Mañana”. The single was taken from their 2001 debut album “El Que Dusca Encuentra” released on Marila Records. The band’s sophomore album “Lo Que Andabamos Buscando” followed in 2002 after which Elefante toured in support of Shakira and Maná, marking the group’s considerable progress.
Following the band’s extensive tours of the Americas, lead siger Reyli left the group and would go on to become a successful solo artist. Singer Jorge Martínez Guevara took his place for Elefante’s self-titled third album in 2005, which later earned a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Album. Despite this success Guevara departed the group following the release of 2007’s “Resplendor”. Songwriters and guitarists Rafael López and Javi Cantero assume the vocal responsibilities on future releases including “E:87600?” in 2012.
Críticas en vivo
Mexico's very own Latin rock outfit Elefante have gone through a couple of detrimental lineup changes in their short career span yet the five musicians remaining work well together in live format. The critically acclaimed ensemble have broken out from their homeland and regularly tour internationally to an ever growing fanbase who patiently await the followup to 2012 album 'E:87600?'.
Until then, they continue to pack out venues to see the best selection of the band's current five albums performed to their very maximum. There is no doubt the live performance allows the group to develop and adapt their music for the big stage. The instrumentals are completely on point tonight and every band member gets a personal showcase to really demonstrate their abilities. The audience is applauding wildly by the finale and the group leaves the stage having truly performed to their maximum ability this evening.
I saw Elefante live in November 2013. It was the best concert I have ever been to. The audience was involved and emotional. They played their top hits as this was not a promotional tour stop and everything was perfect. I try to keep track of them but they rarely come near where I live. My partner and I traveled three hours south to see them and it would be worth it to travel more if we didn't have kids that need to be kept by family in order to go.
Was the best show I ever been, the venue is awesome, great staff, very clean, the show was priceless Elefante is one of my favorite bands, I looking forward to more concerts like that, I love the app easy to use... Thanks to let me know about this concert!!!
