This is one of the best show I have ever been to. The setting was super intimate and our seats were so close to the stage we could make eye contact with her and the band. Near the end, before her final songs, she walked out and right in front of us. I did not want to touch her for fear of getting arrested (LOL).
The best for last-- at the end of the show, her manager came by and gave me a copy of set (songs) for the performance. I thought I was going to puke right there.
What a shame that she has had to wait so long for recognition of her talent. Last night's show at the Jazz Cafe in Camden was up there with the best. Bettye describes herself as an interpreter not a singer, but I would say she was both. The size of the venue allows you to see her up close which really adds to the experience. She is nearly 70 now, so I would say if you get the chance to see her, go for it. You won't be disappointed.
I Saw Ms lavette maybe 2 years ago at a place called the freight and salvage in Berkeley California One of the best shows I've ever been to and I go to a lot of shows if you get a chance to see Miss Betty lavette go see her it's so worth every penny in fact you'll probably think you're not paying enough after seeing this show her voice is like butter her interpretations of the songs are beyond reproach she is a true torch singer
This was a great show, thrilled I got a chance to see this American treasure. At 72 she still brings it. She did her entire new album (Dylan covers) start to finish and provided interesting insights between songs on the challenges Dylan can bring to another artist. She closed with When the Money Came and an acapella number. Band was tight as you would expect.
The greatest living soul/R&B singer. Catch her while she's around, living legends don't live forever. She's an amazing interpreter of songs from many genres. The current tour (2019) is an intimate one, just her & a piano player. Her voice really gets a chance to shine. Worth every penny.
Just a few days shy of her 71st birthday, Ms. Bettye ain't tired yet! Celebrating, thankful and thoughtful, Hamilton Live patrons were able to stroll through time, emotions, the struggle and survival through every lyric that resonated from Ms. Bettye's soulful vocals.
What an evening!
