Monuments are one of those extremely metalcore bands that play with so much musicality, it’s difficult as a musician to not be intrigued by what they are doing musically. Their sound rivals the sound of their contemporaries, “Protest the Hero” Each riff is a masterpiece in itself, each section being a different time signature. The audience are massively blown away, with some at the forefront of the noise front and centre, getting involved in whatever kind of mosh pit that is happening at the front, whilst there are others on the sidelines soaking up and analyzing the sound before them, enjoying every trill, every pinch harmonic and every 7/8 bar that they play.
I would even compare this metal core outfit to that of Killswitch Engage who have a very heavy sound, however, this band are a little bit more obscure, and adhere more to the obscure side of metal with their tech rock tendencies. “Empty Vessels Make the Most Noise” is a highlight for me. In the context of the music, it is such a technical masterpiece.
