I can’t express in words how amazing Emma’s performance was. I’m fairly new to her work, but I became immediately hooked after hearing “Light Song” (and subsequently began spamming repeat on every project she’s been involved in). When I heard she’d be in my area, I bought the tickets without a second thought, and I have no regrets.
All I can say is WOW. I’ve never seen a crowd so taken by a performer before. It was like the whole audience was holding its breath waiting to see where she’d take each song. It was a quiet set — just her and her guitars — but the dynamic range was thrilling. She really brought each song to life in a new way, and as many times as I’ve burned through her discography by now, I still found myself on the edge of my (figurative) seat throughout the whole performance. Anyone who knows her music knows how heart-wrenchingly deep and personal it is, yet I couldn’t stop smiling like an idiot. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. :)
Needless to say, I’ll be seeing her live again whenever she comes back around. Do yourself a favor and catch this amazing woman live if you get the chance! You won’t be sorry!
I can't say enough about Emma. She's been in Omaha twice (in one year?) Second time was surpringly better than the first, where she opened for This Will Destroy You and Deafheaven. The venue's a little better than the second where Jaye Jayle opened for her and set the mood. Emma just keeps getting better in her music. New songs offer a new vista and then it seems like she keeps at revising and improving those songs. The second venue she played at was a small room off the main bar, which allows an impressive (at times) intimacy that she took full advantage of. It says a lot to me because some music is meteoric at first but then falls flat, but I keep looping back to her. Really dig On Dark Horses more and more as an EP follow-up to Marked for Death. "Control" "Darkhorse" (f'yeah) Pretty sweet to see that she has embraced her place in the world as a musician. If ever she could other things do better, she seems to have sold her talent to the powers that be that can help her keep it going.
Emma, you still convey a longing for something dear and misplaced to you that you have yet to obtain mentally or physically in your live performances as Emma Ruth Rundle. You are arbitrarily graceful, but your honesty from your face is what makes you shine during your act. You have to leave your problems alone and fly them off before the stage, and focus on your deadly eyebrows, so my eyes may naturally turn black again for you...
Excited for her show. And in France... She might as well be a princess too. So, no one prick her with any poisons or diseases. I never read anything about my jurisdiction when I was forced into Special Forces... Wait, what am I even saying. Long live The French Crying Wolf!

a really different experiance as it was an intimate event with 90 seats in a theatre setup. Jaye Jayle(opener) felt inclined to be narrative and so did Emma through this set inspired by the surroundings. Felt a bit awkward as your body want to move with the music but your stuck in the seat but it was really a relaxed event and you enjoyed the music differently though beiing a bit preoccupied with shooting pictures seated which was kinda difficult compared to be able to cahnge point of view.. the tour continues and dont miss out as tickets is scarce at this point!!
This was my first time seeing Emma Ruth Rundle live and it was close to a religious experience for me. I first found myself mesmerized by her guitar, unable to look away, but later closed my eyes and completely lost myself. Hearing the songs I already knew but stripped back, in Emma’s words “How they sounded when I wrote them”, was incredible. To top it all off, those of us there were lucky enough to be treated to an unreleased song from an upcoming record. Unsurprisingly, it was heavy and beautiful as hell.
Her concerts are always so personal and wonderful. She is incredibly talented and I was very emotional during the whole show. Her music is so unique and I was glad to be there.
The venue is cool and conveniently laid-out in an inverted slope kind of way that lets viewers in the back see the show very well. The sound is, however not the best, but is good (say 4/5 stars).
Great drinks at the bar, a bit more expensive than usual but hey, Munich beer is worth it.
I have not seen ERR perform live, but I really love her work. First heard/saw her on you tube with her band Marriages. She is the best female electric guitarist I have heard. Solo albums have presented a deeper range of song writing for her. I am very excited to get an opportunity to see her.
I love this artist. Great sound, fantastic voice. Will comeback again. Thanks a lot for your fantastic music.
Btw. The Sound in “Die Stadtmitte” Karlsruhe is terrible. Bad location, for an artist like Emma.
