Music Fans... You OWE it to yourself to check out this band, GOODBYE JUNE! Goodbye June’s indie-rock influenced sound has a raw, gritty, and deep rooted soul wrenching vibe and a straight-up ALL AMERICAN rock 'n roll sound that only this band can produce! Learning myself about this band back in 2010, I found their childhood upbringing to be identical to mine, and of the band, Kings of Leon. So naturally I know where they come from and find their music to be quite enlighting to say the least... By the way, If you like the band, SoundGarden... you will be quite moved by the sound of GOODBYE JUNE. I thought I'd just throw that in for people who want some comparability. However, when Goodbye June were here in Memphis, TN at the Hi-Tone... I got a chance to finally meet the band and speak personally with the cousins Landon Millbourn, Brandon Qualkenbush, and Tyler Baker ... I asked them what moves them or gives them inspiration to write and play music the way they do, they all had one main answer to share with me...their upbringing. I immediately knew what they were talking about! All cousins being strong songwriters on their own, they typically write together and feed off of each other’s thoughts. But at the end if the day, everyone gets involved at some point. Having been raised on such a strict religion diet, their gospel influenced childhood memories are not lacking for any material to base their next new song on! There's no shortage of material there that's for sure! I was speaking to Tyler from the band, and expressing that I wish I knew how to play an instrument and he told me that I only needed to know three chords to be successful. I laughed and immediately thought about the song "Helter-Skelter" specifically the one U2 recorded, where Bono says, "All I need is a red guitar, three chords and the truth"! Goodbye June HAS THAT and the reason why they do is because they know that’s what it takes to make music that matters!!!
Fantastic show live! These guys were well worth the ticket price. The sound guy at had the mix just right and the band plays VERY well together. Go see these guys in concert they are awesome.
