Black Midi

black midi are far and away one of the most exciting and refreshing bands to see live. Not only does their material translate perfectly to the live setting, but the sheer adrenaline of the performances, the perfect synergy of the band as they drift between rehearsed precision and surreal improv, even down to the way they manage to coax the same manic energy from the crowd that they themselves deliver. There's nothing to complain about with black midi and there's good reason for them to be considered one of the most essential live acts of this era.

Normally if a band ambles on stage and ignores the paying crowd - i would get annoyed.
Black Midi are a bit different, an enigma ... they don't need to converse as they let their intoxicating music do it for them. No set list ... 1 very limited 7" under their belt which got a roar of approval at the end of the set. It was a special gig ... one of those WOW moments which has left me wanting more.... it was a Stunning hour of noise by 4 very talented musician's.

Awesome. I went to three shows in a row and they blew my mind every time. They're in that sweet spot where they have some great new stuff and they're coming up in the world but they're not very well known yet (at least in the US) so they're still playing teeny tiny little venues. They're full of energy and potential and they're clearly road-testing some new songs on this tour. I really can't wait to see what they come up with next! There's no one quite like them out there right now.

Decent venue, good crowd and atmosphere. Support - Rattle - were excellent, generating hypnotic, Can-like percussion. The two drummers complemented each other really well.
Black Midi very moody and energetic, although not sure about the cowboy hats! Opened with Talking Heads which is brilliant. Overall didn't feel there was enough cohesion, however, when they did come together, the good stuff was worth waiting for.

Go SEE THEM! Saw them at the Bootleg which was awesome! They were quick to get on and quick to get off.
