Although Karina experiences the majority of her success in the late 60s, her Spanish pop songs are still incredibly popular and the show that she recently put on was almost sold out. She may be past her prime, but Karina’s vocal performance was still outstanding, she was able to get her lips around the complex lyric structures, and even belt out the incredibly high notes in her tracks.
She opened the show with Soy Como Soy which of course had everyone singing along straight away, and she encouraged everyone to join in by holding out her microphone. The set and her costumes were fantastic too, and she looked wonderfully young! When she played Romeo y Julieta, one of her most famous hits in Spain, she called up an audience member to sing in the chorus with her. It was a lot of fun, and it was a lovely way for her to demonstrate her thanks for the constant support from her fans.
As she also made her fame through her stint on the television series in Venezuela, there were several fans from the show at her concert, so she played the theme tune from that to please everyone. She focused mainly on playing tracks from El Disco De Oro De Karina, and Primera Epoca, as well as revisiting some of her older hits. It was a great show full of talent and fun.
