This was the first time I have seen PART CHIMP gig, and also my first time at THE GARAGE, HIGHBURY AND ISLINGTON.
VENUE:
A fantastic venue. It is literally a stones throw from the train station (look diagonally left and you will be able to see it). It reminded me of the places I used to go to years ago to see bands such as THE ASTORIA (R.I.P.) on Tottenham Court Road and THE TOWN AND COUNTRY CLUB at Kentish Town. Small and intimate (sounds like me ;-) ) and more about the music than the money (such as the O2 venues). I would definitely go back to THE GARAGE without any hesitations and recommend it to all.
LOWER SLAUGHTER (SUPPORT ACT):
I had not heard of this band before so do not know what their music sounds like from a CD point of view, but the singer, female, has a great pair of lungs on her and I will definitely track down a CD so I can hear what they sound like from a studio point of view.
PART CHIMP:
A-MA-ZING. But VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY LOUD. I stood behind the sound control which is all digital now, but for a small venue the sound was a bit too loud and at times I couldn't make out what songs PC were playing unless I could catch the intro guitar riff. A guy standing next to me actually wore earplugs! After the gig my hearing was muffled and I felt disorientated to the point of feeling sick and this lasted for about 2 days, so yes, a tad loud. But - in saying that - I would definitely see them again because they were great. And if you haven't been fortunate to see them then do. They were great!
Hope my review has helped.
