Finnish progressive rock visionaries Von Hertzen Brothers, return to the UK in October 2026 for a very special run of intimate seated theatre shows.
Celebrating 25 years as a band, the Finnish band will present a unique live experience unlike anything they have previously brought to UK audiences. The band wryly describe these performances as acoustic “enough” - while the songs may be reimagined away from their usual electric rock set-up, these shows are anything but stripped back. Far from a simple “unplugged” set, these shows interpret the band’s music in a way that is intimate, expansive and more immersive than ever before.
The three brothers, Mikko, Kie and Jonne Von Herzen are joined on stage by their bandmate, multi-instrumentalist Markus Pajakkala whose impressive array of instruments goes far beyond a traditional acoustic set-up. The brothers themselves also show off their insane musical skills, each playing multiple instruments and taking turns on drums, keyboards, guitars, vocals, percussion and whatever else is on hand.
Presented in seated theatre and cabaret style venues, these evenings are designed to bring audiences closer to the songs and stories at the heart of the music. Spanning the band’s rich 25-year catalogue, audiences can expect fan favourites, deep cuts and rarely performed material presented in brand new arrangements created especially for these shows.
For over two decades, Von Hertzen Brothers have built a reputation as one of Europe’s most adventurous and compelling live bands. Blending progressive rock, folk, psychedelia and soaring vocal harmonies, they have earned a devoted following through their nine acclaimed studio albums, major festival appearances and unforgettable live performances.
Whether you are discovering Von Hertzen Brothers for the first time or have followed them for years, Acoustic Enough promises a unique concert experience unlike any other.
Opening act Messenger from London played a well received 45 minute set which included songs from their current CD and one to be released shortly.
Their music leans towards 60's/70's psychedelia with vocal harmony's, tempo changes and instrumental passages - worth checking out.
Headliners Von Hertzen Brothers hit the stage at 9.20 and launch into New Day Rising, the title track from their latest CD.
The Rainbow Courtyard is a 120 capacity venue a few hundred yards from the Oobleck, where the show was originally booked..........and it is full.
While on the small side, it provides a great atmosphere for the concert - the sort of place where the band walk through the audience to reach the stage!
The charismatic Mikko leads from the front and is ably supported by his brothers and the rest of the band.
Though broadly included under the "Prog" banner, the VHB are their own men really and are probably closer to mainstream rock than some of the more gentile acts that are associated with progressive music.
Vocal harmonies, screaming guitar, intricate instrumental interplay and quality musicianship are all on show tonight.
They go through a 90 minute set that showcases their current release and a selection of popular songs its predecessor Nine Lives and the rest their back catalogue, including Flowers & Rust, Always Been Right, Coming Home and Prospect For Escape.
The audience lap up everything that is on offer and are quick to respond to the band's invitations to participate during the show.
They are called back for a couple of encores and as the crowd mill around after the set is over, all you can see are smiling faces from satisfied punters - which says it all!
