Where is it held?

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, Florida

The world-renowned Rolling Loud festival has grown rapidly in size and stature over the four short years since its first installment in 2015, and is now widely acknowledged as the largest dedicated hip-hop gathering on the planet.

Spin-off versions have since popped up all around the globe, with its latest European branch taking root in Portugal. However, its original Miami, Florida base was where it all started - and the laid-back party city remains very much the epicentre of Rolling Loud’s meteoric rise to dominance.

The imposing Hard Rock Stadium is usually the home of NFL stalwarts the Miami Dolphins. This impressive modern enormo-dome sits in the Miami Gardens district just north of the central city hub, and is easily reached from the downtown area via a short bus or cab ride.

What’s the vibe?

Hip-hop, don’t stop

From the very first year it landed, Rolling Loud instantly made international waves with its impressive roster of chart-topping hip-hop, rap and crossover talent. Back then, it was just a one-day indoor affair - but even at that early stage, it was already bringing in such stellar names as Schoolboy Q, Travis Scott, Action Bronson and A$AP Ferg.

Since then, the line-ups have gone from strength to strength, and the festival itself has expanded massively to become a three-day extravaganza of dedicated rap and hip-hop culture. Noteworthy recent headliners have included the likes of Lil Wayne, Migos, A$AP Rocky, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Cardi B, 21 Savage, Chance the Rapper, and Post Malone.

In short, this is pretty much the go-to festival for hip-hop heads of any persuasion. Whether it's a major label superstar tearing up the billboard charts, or the hottest new thing on the underground scene - as long as it’s rap and it’s on fire somewhere, it’s likely to get an outing at Rolling Loud.

What is there to see and do?

Everything under one roof - even when the roof is off!

This being a stadium-based festival, the focus is very much on those attention-grabbing headline acts - but that’s not to say you won’t find plenty else on offer to tempt you away from the main hub every once in a while.

In addition to the colossal main stage, past years’ events have included secondary stages, dozens of concession stands and break-out beer gardens, pop-up skate parks, VIP zones, art walls for live mural and graffiti painting, arcade and gaming rooms, chillout tents, and a whole boatload of other attractions and diversions.

The usual May dates mean Miami in late springtime, so we’re talking warm and mostly sunny, with a roughly 30% chance of showers at some point - but do bear in mind it’s an outdoor festival these days, and it goes ahead rain or shine! The 2021 festival rearranged for February will be a little cooler, but you can usually expect average temperatures to hover between about 65f-80f at this time of year. February tends to see less rain than May in Miami, with around a 70% chance of sunshine on average.
