Starting off in church choirs, when McKnight's brothers band Take 6 signed a record deal in 1990 with Warner Brothers, he was encouraged to pursue his own music by getting his demos out there which eventaully led to him signing with Wing Records, a subsidiary of Mercury at the age of 19.
In 1992, McKnight released his self-titled debut album with the top twenty ballad "One Last Cry" showcasing his incredible talent reminiscent of soul stars Luther Vandross and Babyface. His 1997 Grammy nominated album "Anytime" sold over two million copies and won him Best Male Video at MTV VMA's in 1998. Later that year McKnight signed with Motown and soon after released a Christmas album titled “Bethlehem” featuring renditions of classic Christmas carols.
In 1999 McKnight released his most successful release with "Back at One" which sold over three million copies and went triple platinum. The album featured the successful title track and the single “Stay or Let Go”.
McKnight’s sixth studio album “Superhero” released in 2001 featured guest appearances from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Nate Dogg and Fred Hammond and reached number seven in the Billboard charts. Continuing levels of success, the album earned him three Grammy nominations in 2002.
With an abundance of talent, McKnight turned his hand to the stage and made his Broadway debut in 2007 as Billy Flynn in Chicago. As well as hosting his own radio talk show “The Brian McKnight Moring Show” which he did for four years, he took an interest in television as he was given his own late night talk show.
Throughout his career McKnight has received a total 16 Grammy nominations and collaborated with artists like: Josh Groban, Nelly, Jermaine Dupri and Vanessa Williams as he continues to provide inspiration for future generations of R&B artists.

New Yorker Brian McKnight is one of the most popular R&B artists of his time. I have his entire collection of work it is purely amazing. I think he is considered an under-rated type of artist as he didn't have many number 1 hits and has been nominated for sixteen Grammy Awards without a win! Despite this - in my heart and a lot of others his music is priceless.
His voice is probably one of the best I've heard from a male R&B artists and his writing songs ability is amazing, I often listen to his music during a heart break type of situation it really soothes my issues I have with myself and others.
His stage performance is awesome he literally makes the ladies cry with his melodies and lyrics and vocal ability. I really wish I could take someone special, to one of his concerts and enjoy every bit of it. One of my favorite songs from him is "Back at One" it really gets me in a relax mood and almost under sedation from it, almost as anything else doesn't matter.
Another interesting thing about him is he plays 8 instruments! I couldn't believe it - he plays plays piano, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, trombone, tuba, flugelhorn and trumpet.
Brian McKnight is one of the best vocalist of his time.
I was really trying to avoid this, but here goes.
Brian Mcknight is a great singer/producer/writer/musician/entertainer/singer.
But as a person he's absolutely not a kind or good person.
he's so big in his head that he's forgotten who are the persons that got him where he is.
An artist does not have to be unkind to his fans he has to be attentive, i flew from The canary islands to see him perform with a meet and greet entrance ticket, missed out 5 days of work, bought a meet and greet 200€ ticket,
a flight, and really just shook his hand and heard on the spot that i could not take the picture with my phone.
I took the time to explain that i flew in from spain especially for his concert and that the meet and greet was a present from my daughter from her first ever salary.
And if he could please just record a small audio for her as gratitude for what she did for her dad.
He said he couldn't because he had to be on stage and he was already warmed up.
so i said no problem and thanked him.
To my surprise it took 20 minutes before he was on stage,
me personally wil not ever buy or stream any of his songs.
kind regards a very unsatisfied customer.

Holding the tied record for most nominated Grammy artist of all time without a win seems slightly unfair for the R & B/Soul stylings of Brian McKnight. The singer/songwriter has been touring globally for over two decades and has picked up some great techniques along the way about how to really wow a crowd.
HIs music has always fared well commercially so he has a great discography to hand select music from, and by the cheers from the audience you are under the impression he has made some brilliant choices this evening. Brian is a showman throughout and builds instant rapport with the audience whilst explaining the meanings behind certain songs and teasing introductions to favourites such as 'Back At One' and 'One Last Cry' which evoke momentous reaction.
Clearly capitalising on the enthusiasm, Brian really demonstrates his talented soulful vocal abilities before saving his biggest commercial hit 'Love Is' for a huge nostalgic singalong to the early 90's classic.
Brian is my favorite singer, whenever he performs,he gives his best every time. You definitely get your money's worth; Brian is a Excellent Entertainer,he can entertain me anytime, he sings, he lets you know exactly what he did, whether it was good or bad. He makes you laugh on point and let you know what you didn't do right so you can get it right. All his 13 CDs over the years are Awesome. B sings exactly what he is going through at that moment, he writes it and sings it into a song. I'm amazed at all his talents. I love Brian McKnight whenever he comes to H town{Houston} or New Orleans - that's where I'm from. I support B. 100%, and he can always count on me to be there. I will always love Brian,I can't wait until his next concert, Sincerely Ms.Kim Williams.
Been a fan of @brianmcknight23 since 1991, and I must say, He just "Keeps getting Better!" He always puts on a great show and leaves you with that "Uh Oh Feeling" again and again. I always hate when his shows end because they always make me want to have "One Last Cry!" From LA, to the Winstar in Oklahoma, to the Verizon in Grand Prairie, Texas and now the Houston Arena, he never disappoints. Got @brianmcknight23, I will travel! Thanks for always staying true to your craft. My daughter and I enjoyed our VIP seats. It was so worth the drive from Dallas! You're the best, never stop!
