So it’s pretty much undeniable that the metalcore scene is in pretty rude health these days. Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, Killswitch Engage and The Devil Wears Prada all had albums that went top ten all around the world in the past five years alone and that’s pretty great for heavy music in general, whether you like those bands or not. However, call me elitist but it is undeniably nice to come across metalcore bands that look more like the hardcore bands of the mid 80’s than any airbrushed Kerrang! pin up. This is where For The Fallen Dreams come in, however they don’t just look like a peer of Black Flag, Minor Threat and the like, but the ferocity and passion that they play with every single night could stand up to either of those aforementioned bands at their best. This is a band whose singer, Chad Ruhlig, severely injured his leg in a motorcycle accident and continued playing live all over the world in crutches and a leg brace, singing onstage with his knee resting on a bench. If that’s not utterly badass I don’t know what is and it demonstrates the commitment these guys from Lansing, Michigan have to playing live and giving everything they have on a night after night basis. Truly, For The Fallen Dreams are a band that other bands can learn from when it comes to performing, and in my mind there’s no higher compliment that one can pay a band at any level they’re playing at. Highly recommended.
