The morbidly named band, Stabbing Westward, (poor Westward), is the American industrial rock band who have been doing their thing now for the last 25 years. They are one of the most critically acclaimed bands amongst the industrial crowd of music and in the rock scene. Tonight they are due to perform tracks from a lot of their career, there are rumoured performances of Darkest Days and Self-Titled, which are both albums that solidified their place in the music industry that they have worked ever so hard to achieve. This audience is hungry for their fix of this industrial rock, which in the best way possible of describing it sounds as thought machines made it. It is a very large wall of sound that they create, that chugs along through each song. The hooks are all the same, with a great amount of grit to them. Their biggest song of the set is “Save Yourself”, bringing the house down.
Let’s start with the fact that they weren’t actually on the bill. So there’s the false advertisement that started my night off on the wrong foot. Then I got a little excited because at least Decoded Feedback was there to save the day...well half of them were. So we got to listen to a DJ and a friend of the band fill in on some tracks on vocals. I give him credit for doing that but it was highly unsatisfying. Normally Songkick is a fantastic app to have, but in this instance...I really needed to see Stabbing Westward but they were absent. It was unfortunate.
What a show. From provision, to the hunger, and finally stabbing westward. All the performers where top tier. Vocals for all 3 bands was awsome and on point. Staff at the scout bar was always awsome. Just sad they had no stabbing westward Merch.
