Well, I've first listened to the Murphys music when "Time to Go" hit the NHL games. I used to play with my brother, and it's the reason for a lot of good music we've known. Since then, we were following the band, tracking its tour dates and hoping anxiously for a visit to our land, Brazil. I really couldn't believe when that was announced: it could really happen! - and it did.
We've been there, to Via Marques, for the first of two nights. The tickets were completely sold out and the crowd was insane. You could see by the eyes of the band members how happy they were to be here for the first time. Epic, to say the least, the concert drove everyone to dancing, moshing, jumping, and everything else in no time and almost infinitely.
Even during the slower parts of the set, like "Forever", and "Fields of Athenry", the atmosphere was amazing. The Murphys are incredible - and versatile - musicians and great people also. From "The boys are back" to "Alcohol", with "Do or Die", "Going Out in style" inbetween, it was one of the greatest live experiences I've ever noticed.
They felt like they were home, in Boston, but without forgetting they were in São Paulo to drive everyone wild from the beginning to the end of the show. Bagpipes, guitars, banjoes, flutes, keys, beer, people wearing green, boston teams' jerseys, and happiness, above all: this would be a little abstract on the Dropkick Murphys' first show ever in Brazil.
It would be, because it's certainly impossible to describe it in such few words. In fact, one sentence can synthesise it better: LET'S GO MURPHYS!
Rancid and Dropkick put on a hell of a show. The light rain through the Dropkick set in the middle of August was simply awesome and added to the fun. Rancid was the main draw for the Wife and I. Although we knew of Dropkick and their music seeing them live was incredible and gave us a whole different perspective of how fun and awesome they are. Will see them again without a doubt.
The encore...Dope!! Tim Timebomb starting solo with Folsom Prison Blues and then both bands joining in was sweet. The classic punk songs they sang together was the icing on the show. If you have a chance to catch them before their tour ends don't think twice about going. This one is a definite top 3 on my list.
As always, it is a great experience to watch a show performed by Dropkick Myrphys. In Copenhagen yesterday, they played the right mix of new and old songs. Their eagerness and commitment to making a great party is admirable and a joy to watch. They managed to capture the audience right from the start and creating a great atmospheric. The concert was held in Amager Bio, and it was a great place for the concert – a small and cozy place, where you felt really close to the band. The only minor downside of the concert was the volume of the music – it was a little too loud. It was drowning the vocal. Personally I would like to better hear the lyric instead of the instruments.
Seeing The Dropkick Murphys live was a totally amazing experience in and of itself. The second I entered the show, I was greeted by the sights and sounds of good old celtic punk. Ken Casey's uplifting and majestic voice gladly welcomed me into a realm of sweet guitarwork and overall an insane time.
The concert was packed but everyone there had one goal, to listen and to enjoy the Dropkick Murphys's killer music. I must say, being in big mosh pit while Shipping up to Boston is playing was one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. Seeing this band live is highly recommended. You will not be dissapointed.
Dropkick Murphy's is a great band. They appreciate their fans and it's like sitting in a studio watchin rehearsal goofing around playing songs because we like them. Their energy and hijinks make it fun. They do covers and have the fans pick the songs by throwing a dart at a number. They bring up the female fans for their song "Shitfaced". Vinnie Stigma from Agnostic Front sang a Bruisers song - Iron Chin. They have so many songs their setlist is different every night. There was a lot of green showing off Irish pride. It was a really fun show as always. Always looking forward to the next one!
Brilliant from start to finish, great encore of sham69s if the kids are united. Then the usual fan invasion of the stage for the last singalong Ken casey what a top bloke, while the roadies where starting to pack the gear away he sat at the front of the stage talking to fans, having selfies signing stuff and shaking hands. Also what a moment for one young fan who was invited onto the stage given an instrument and played on the last 3 songs. Good support from the renegades, and also "big thumbs up" to rock city Nottingham for having reasonable bar prices and good staff.
I saw the Murphys at WaMu Theatre in Seattle on August 16th. The Murphys were great and so much fun! The show started with “The Lonesome Boatman” followed by “The Boys Are Back”. Two high energy songs and the set never slowed down. I’ve seen Flogging Molly twice, and I was kind of expecting the Murphys to basically be like them, but other than both being Irish Punk, I was surprised by how different the two shows were. I will definitely be seeing the Murphys again next time they are here.
Brilliant gig. The Angry Agenda was the first warm up band - never heard of them before, but really good punk rock band. Next support was The Living End - again, never heard them before but I am a fan now. And then finally came The Murphys - amazing performance as usual. Brilliant contact with the audience and it felt like they were playing non stop. So much energy. Well recommend seeing them at least once in your life !
Dropkick was great. This tour was a reunion with Rancid and they alternated the headline spot. Tonite it was Rancid but Dropkick held its own. They played 2 songs from new album and the usual classics-Boys are Back of course. Later at Rancids encore they did a Johnny Cash cover together. Looking forward to a longer set. FYI -Asbury Park has a hard curfew. The show ended around 930pm. Shortest show Ive seen.
I'm not a huge DKM fan, but I absolutely freaking loved their concert. Enthralled by the opening bands, and befriended all the audience members around me, as well as the venue employees. It was my first ever time getting X'd, being in a mosh pit, and crowd surfing. I danced on stage, met the band, and even did a handstand. Great energy, and good fans.
