Biographie
John Stephen Sudduth was born on 17 December 1984 in Shreveport, Lousiana, and had a deep absorption of gospel music while moving around the south as a child. He then relocated to Nashville, Tennesee and started to play in several bands. He then went on to write songs for other artists, but wanted to make a name for himself as a singer as well. To get things started, he released his first EP entitled “Strange Fruit” in 2009 and then set out on tour with Ten Out of Tenn.
In 2010 Ekko released two EPs in conjunction with each other six months apart, entitled “Reds,” and “Blues.” His songs, which were posted on youtube, picked up in popularity and caught the attention of hip-hop producer Clams Casino. In 2012 Ekko, and one of the songs he wrote, was featured as a single for Rihanna. “Stay” gave Ekko his first entry on a number of charts; specifically, reaching within the top five in nineteen countries. The single rocketed Ekko’s career, and by 2013 started working on his debut album. In the meantime, he released another EP entitled “Tracks” and performed at the itunes Festival in London (and the subsequent release of his performance).

Producer and singer-songwriter Mikky Ekko, perhaps most famous for guesting on Rihanna's worldwide hit “Stay” (which is a darned shame, as his solo material is utterly glorious), is one of the globe's premiere popsmiths. Hailing from Louisiana, John Stephen Sudduth (the 'real name' – air quotes – of Ekko) carves synthpop magic. He may not have released any longform material yet, but there are four EPs of sensational electro to pick and choose from – with “Pull Me Down”, “Kids” and “We Must Be Killers” being arguably the most magnificent ditties on offer.
When Ekko descends upon stages, he doesn't just reel off music. He cultivates a wider experience, fusing visual elements and emotional gravitas with the finespun noise. “Pull Me Down” is often a celestial, if not somewhat solemn, affair, toned-down and stretched-out into the glittering power ballad it can be. With the backdrop dotted with glistening, glacial lights, you might be fooled into thinking his sets are pure reverence, but you'd be sorely mistaken. Lots of Ekko's efforts are maudlin in nature, but that doesn't stop him strutting around the stage, oozing a surprising amount of confidence, and he can ladle in condensed energy, turning the elegiac atmosphere into one of sheer joy at the drop of a hat. Prepare to be mesmerised. Especially during his take on “Stay”.
John Stephen Sudduth better known by his stage name Mikky Ekko may well be known for guesting on Rihanna's hit single yet he has carved out a career of his own since breaking from beneath the radar in 2008. Having only released his debut album in early 2015, he had accumulated a fan base for his electro pop over this time.
The EPs create the bulk of the set list and keep the crowds dancing and the likes of 'Made of Light' keep the audience with their hands raised high. The music sounds crystal clear due to the pristine acoustics of the venue and the pounding bass ripples through the floor and up through the legs and bodies of everybody present. The dance factor stops momentarily as Mikky plays his well known collaboration 'Stay' and the whole audience sing along in force as they raise their voices to attempt to lift the ceiling. The pop factor is back once again for 'Smile' which once again restores the danceable vibes and feel good factor and Mikky stands from behind his decks in order to enthuse his crowds for a final jump-along.
i am amazed. Never been in so powerful concert ever before. It was my first Mikky Ekko concert, but i'm sure that it wasn't the last one.
Laurel was awesome as well. Never heard of her before, but now i am listening to hers music now.
Greetings from LATVIA. Thank you!
