Having shown a love for music from an early age, Axwell soon found the wonders of electronic music and dived into making his own productions and developing his skills as a DJ. Teaming up with Isabel Fructoso early in his career for the duo, Mambana, they quickly signed to Soulfuric Recordings, releasing a string of singles under this moniker. Axwell found his first chart success with the single “Burning” in 2003, which broke into the Billboard dance charts and was a dance floor hit. In 2005, he established his own label, Axtone, helping to provide more control over his output.
Several well-supported remixes and singles followed, yet it was his partnership with Steve Angello and Sebastien Ingress, as Swedish House Mafia that Axwell was to receive widespread fame. In 2009, the trio had signed a major label contract with EMI, producing their debut in 2010. Their first single, “One,” featuring Pharrell Williams on vocals, was a huge chart success, breaking into the Top Ten in charts across Europe. Their debut album, “Until One” soon followed, before the members announced they were to return to their solo careers, after a whirlwind of tours. Their second record, 2012’s “Until Now,” appeared as a farewell to their fans, followed by a celebratory tour.
Returning back to his solo productions, Axwell released a remix of Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl’s “In My Mind,” becoming a global hit and also receiving a Grammy nomination. A year later in 2013, Axwell showed no sign of letting up his success, finding another hit with his track, “Centre of the Universe,” which went to number one on Beatport. Axle’s prowess as a global superstar DJ was acknowledged by DJ Magazine’s 2013 poll, placing him at number 19.

Axwell live in Ibiza was an absolutely brilliant night out. After the in house DJs had started the night with classic dance and house tunes the venue was buzzing with energy. The crowd was anticipating some of Axwell's recent remixes and singles including 'Tokoyo By Night', 'Feel The Pressure' and 'I Am', and was not disappointed! As soon as the set began the party atmosphere was refreshed with Axwell's funky electronic and synth beats. In particular, the ethereal vocals of 'I Am' infused the whole club with an enchanting quality and the heavy funk beats of 'Arms Around Me' really fired up the dance floor. Paired with the light and smoke effects of Ushuaia Beach Hotel Axwell's progressive rhythms took on a new vitality played live. The pulsating beats and shimmering electronic melodies filled my whole body as fireworks lit up the venue – quite different from the usual headphones experience! To conclude his set, Axwell, at the head of the dancefloor in the DJ booth, brought the dance floor to a vivacious climax with ‘Center of The Universe’ and ‘Reverie’. The crowd was swaying and bouncing amidst the smoke clouds as the reverberating house beats filled the room. I am so glad that I was able to see Axwell live – myself and my friends left the dancefloor filled with the groove and dynamism of his set. A fab experience!
Sven Axel Christofer Hedfors better known by the far snappier stage name Axwell was a third of the legendary dance outfit Swedish House Mafia. After their demise Axwell continued to make music as a solo artist and using what he learned with the band, he creates a mind bending live show.
He had been working on solo projects and releasing music intermittently since the mid-00's so he has an extensive discography comprising of internationally successful singles. The whole show has been carefully designed and from Axwell's confident entrance, the pyrotechnics and visuals enhance the gargantuan effect of the likes of 'This Time (We Can't Go Home)'.
He drops in some Swedish House Mafia tracks to really push frenzy levels to danger levels including 'Miami 2 Ibiza'. By his anthemic finale the audience are well and truly surrendered to the pulsating dance music and raise their hands as one for 'Sun Is Shining' and 'Don't You Worry Child'.
