In the course of two, maybe three years, Ripe has gone from "that pretty cool band that Spotify keeps suggesting to me" to one of my absolute favorite bands of all time. Ripe concerts are an extremely positive experience; the atmosphere of kindness and good times seems to emanate from the band out into the crowd, resulting in dancing, politeness, and a general sense of extreme chill. The band -- particularly lead singer Robbie Wulfsohn --can often be found before the show actively supporting the opening band, an excellent representation of the overall positivity that pervades the show's atmosphere. It's my strong recommendation that anyone still reading this review takes a moment to do a quick search and let Ripe's music speak for itself: you need this kind of positive vibe in your life.
Definitely go see Ripe if you can!
They put on an insanely killer show at the Troubadour. As Ripe's frontman reminds you, "it's a two way street when it comes to energy". And the crowd and band were both pedal to the metal on that street. So much energy and incredible talent on display. Funky guitar riffs, jaw dropping horn lines, a titillating bass solo, and of course excellent vocals. I'd say Ripe at the Roxy was my favorite show in 2018, and Ripe at the Troub is my favorite show of 2019 so far!
The Brook & the Bluff were fantastic by the way. Definitely recommend seeing them perform!
As always - EXCELLENT.
First - the energy of this band is amazing. They really put everything into it.
Second - the musicianship sets these guys apart. They don't just have a good groove going (and they have it), they play it well, with smart arrangements, great technique, and the blend together as a unit. If you've ever done any playing yourself, it's a real treat to watch them.
Third - the songs! Hip, funky, and fun! They played a nice mix of their big hits, a couple covers, and some new material.
GO SEE THESE GUYS AND BUY THEIR MUSIC!!!
Amazing energy and performance as always. The Levitt Pavilion was a perfect setup to balance the fans who wanted to match Ripe's dancing energy with the ones who wanted to relax in the grass.
This is my fifth time seeing Ripe, and the first time where they were allowed to play for over an hour. More Ripe = even better time
Ripe opened for G. Love a couple years ago and we fell in love with this band. The energy is unmatched. So fun and funky. They'll make you dance whether you planned to or not. I don't care if they're playing for 10 people or 10,000; they'll bring the hype. So good. Horns, guitar and singer are all amazing. See. Them.
If you are reading this review do yourself a favor and buy a ticket to this concert. Such a good time, I don’t think one person didn’t have a great time. I’m looking into traveling to see them again this year.
I love these guys! High energy, feel-good group with mad skills. Bring your dancing shoes, cause they'll get you moving. Such a good time! If Ripe comes to your town, go see them! You will not be disappointed!
Very fun, high-energy band that brings the same enthusiasm to stage no matter the size of the crowd. Love to see what they're going to do with their new music in order to keep building out their aura.
Go. See. Them. Super fun, high energy, happy funky delicious. They're so good. Brass on point, lead shreds, bass slaps it, drummer kicks it. And lead man has pipes and that nasty fro. Just do it.
Megan-wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose-intolerant, dary. Great band and even better time. Played a good mix of old and new, and I'm totally excited about the new album.
