Protégé of P Diddy’s MTV television format, Making the Band saw the formation of R&B girl group, Danity Kane. In his search to find the next female super group and taking three series’ to finalise the perfect line-up, Diddy selected: Aubrey O’Day, Shannon Bex, Dawn Richard, Aundrea Fimbres and D Wood, armed and ready for world domination. Signing them to his own label, Bad Boy Records meant that the band were given the best production team to work on their debut album. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2006 and worked on by the likes of: Timbaland, Mario Winans and Ryan Leslie, saw them head straight into the charts at number one.
Having supported The Pussycat Dolls and Christina Aguilera saw Danity Kane acquire an even greater following whilst enhancing their live performances. Reuniting in 2013 after a four year hiatus, Aundrea, Shannon, Aubrey and Dawn hit the stage in front of a bunch of screaming and excitable adoring fans. The sheer amount of hysteria around them is incredible, the screams fill the entire room as they perform some of their hits like “Ride For You”, “Damaged” and “Sleep On It”. For a manufactured band, the chemistry between them feels totally genuine as they sashay in their revealing clothing and dance provocatively in formation making full use of the stage, really working the crowd. Just as incredible as their dance routines are, so are their impeccable vocals. You can pretty much guarantee that every Danity Kane show will ooze electrifying energy which you can’t ignore as it draws you in- if you don’t like dancing DK will without a doubt change that.
