DZ Deathrays are definitely one of the most individual bands that I think I have ever seen. There aren’t many out there of their kind, well there’s The White Stripes, Drenge and most recently Royal Blood, who are dominating the airwaves at the moment with their extremely distinct sound. But back to DZ Deathrays who hail from Brisbane, Australia, who is more of a thrash metal band. Shane Parsons has vocals that are similar to that of Rage Against the Machines and come to think of it, a similar guitar style to that of Tom Morellos, utilizing a pretty hefty pedal board, complete with an octave pedal, a whammy pedal, a looping pedal. There is a breakdown in their song “No Sleep” that is very interesting, a little bit loud and dissonant but at the same time, very intriguing. “Black Rat” is the album that they’re touring at the moment and they’re wowing audiences on an international level it seems, making waves with their loud punk and slightly thrash music.
These guys are 10,000 times better seeing them live! the gig was brilliant and so was the crowd!
I believe they actually played a few extra songs for us at this show. hopefully get to see them again soon on their next tour in Europe or Brighton very soon.
Awesome gig.
These guys really put on a good show.
If you haven't seen them live then do yourself a favour a get to gig.
Knitting factory was a small place and would have liked to see a more rowdy crowd but the band were rocking out.
Absolutely unreal show, DZ Deathrays are a powerful (and LOUD) force live and took the NSC stagediving antics up a notch. Never has an hour long gig packed so much yet gone so quickly.
