I would say that my love for music definitely started with classical music, and huge orchestral works from composers such as Rachmaninov, Mozart, Vivaldi Bach, which leads me to talk about this fantastic artist, Joshua Bell, a composer and virtuosic violinist from Bloomington, Indiana who cites some of those huge names as his influences. Tonight he performs alongside the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, leading them with just his violin. He performs a slew of his best work from the soundtracks of movies such as Angels and Demons, which is so well put together and beautifully enchanting. He also performs work from the film Iris, demonstrating the sheer beauty of the violin. It is from this performance that I realize just how expressive a violin can be with the various techniques that you can play on them, such as arco and pizzicato, playing fortissimo or pianissmo, it’s fair to say that Bell covers all bases with this spell bounding recital.
