In December of that year, she made her theatrical debut in the film 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel,' released on December 23, 2009. Following the positive reception to her character on 'Wizards of Waverly Place,' who was a vampire and fell in love with David Henrie's character, she became the star of the Disney series 'Good Luck Charlie,' which premiered in April 2010 and ended in February 2014. In 2011, she appeared in the film based on the series 'Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas.' She starred in the Disney Channel original movie 'Lemonade Mouth,' in which her character Olivia performs numerous songs. Two singles were released from the soundtrack featuring her vocals, with both charting on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2012, Mendler released her debut album 'Hello My Name Is...,' which featured a pop sound. It debuted at number 30 on the US Billboard 200, and has sold over 200,000 copies. Her debut single off the album "Ready or Not", became an international Top 40 hit, the song was certified gold in Norway, and platinum in New Zealand, United States and Canada and peaked at number 49 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was announced that her second single would be "Hurricane". The video premiered on April 12, 2013 and was shot in London. "Hurricane" has been certified gold in the USA for selling 500,000 copies. In an interview, she said she prefers to escape the traditional pop and dance-pop and adding other elements. "I have funky, R&B tendencies when I write by myself. I really love doo-wop and a jazzy swing beat. Rhythm is a big emphasis in my own writing". Mendler possesses a mezzo-soprano vocal range and she reaches three octaves. She has been compared to Miley Cyrus, but in an interview to Christian Post Mendler said "I'm not Miley Cyrus. There may be some similarities but I'm my own person."
Unlike some of Disney teen star peers, Bridgit Mendler is yet to have the characteristic breakdown or controversial outbreak. It would seem instead that this bright and driven 22 year old is focusing on her career and her music. After appearing in a variety of films and television programmes through her short career, she had a ready made fanbase of adoring fans before she even stepped onto stage.
After so much time behind a camera, her stage persona is characteristically confident and she handles the venue like a total expert. She still steps from beneath the polished exterior and demonstrates her humility as she jokes with fans and chats to them like friends. This of course evokes even more cheers and screams and has the whole venue on side as Bridgit runs through music from 'Hello My Name Is...'. 'Hurricane' receives big cheers but it is the infectious and catchy 'Ready or Not' that has the masses singing along in force whilst Medler skips around in elated joy at the reaction from her fans.
I'm an older generation guy who loves Indie and Alternative music. A younger family member connected me with Bridgit's music.
Her #nemisis EP is incredible. I think she has created her own genre of music. So diverse. Very deep emotionally, you can really feel her message. The 4 songs are so different, yet definitively Bridgit. Saw her at Echoplex LA. This is a "benchmark" in music for 2016.
The concert at Tanger was great! The MC was amazing, he really got the crowd fired up. Bridget was wonderful, you can tell she loves her fans, the way she read the kids signs & got the kids involved. Her voice was clear & great. Took my daughter (7) & her friend. They had a blast. Cons; could of had more seating, they had a VIP section with alot of empty chairs.
