Formed in 2003, the band came together through Norwegian-born Andy LaPlegua, with LaPlegua being the musical mastermind of the project, responsible for all studio recordings. Live, he is joined by Joe Letz, Z_Marr, Abbey Nex and Eric 13. Despite offering a relatively niche style of music, Combichrist have developed a cult following, finding commercial success and finding top positions in dance and alternative charts worldwide.
Their first album, “The Joy of Gunz” appeared in 2003, followed by the limited edition EP, “Kiss the Blade,” which sold out in less than a week. Their success continued with their second EP, “Sex Drogen Und Industrial,” which spent several weeks at the top spot of the DAC charts (Deutsche Alternative Chart).
It was with their 2006 single, “Get Your Body Beat,” that Combichrist broke through into commercial success, peaking at number 14 on the Billboard Dance Singles Chart. Praised releases continued and the band began touring extensively, travelling across Europe and North America. The band were also joined by Limp Bizkit’s guitarist, Wes Borland, in 2009, for their North American tour.
2010’s “Making Monsters” continued to raise the band’s profile, gaining a support slot for Rammstein’s show at Madison Square Gardens, as well as a nationwide tour, helping to find them new fans. Two further albums, 2013’s “No Surrender” and 2014’s “We Love You” proved to fans and critics alike that Combichrist showed little sign of slowing down.

I personally have not been a fan of CombiChrist for a very long time, I hadn't even heard of them until they announced the We Love tour with William Control and New Years Day, I love both of them and it just so happened that my boyfriend, who I started dating shortly after the announcement, is a mega fan of them. So, we decided we were both going the moment he learned of the concert. For this tour CombiChrist had a VIP package that included a meet and greet, pizza party, and more. So, because the first date of tour (this was our areas date) was so close to his birthday we both got VIP packages for it. Needless to say, I am poor, so I had never had VIP before and he had only been to one other concert, so this was a very exciting experience for both of us. Before the show started we got there super early because it's a habit of mine, due to the fact that we were the first attendees there we got to meet a lot of people including certain members of CombiChrist. After we went into the meet and greet/pizza party we realized there were very few people in there so we got to full on meet every member and actually get to know them, aside from the bassist Eric 13 who we already were very good friends with (only met earlier that day, they connect very quickly). The guys went on to group pictures after that I had the pleasure of being thrown into it first thanks to Eric and the guitarist Joe Letz decided to have them, "hold me like a fish" as seen in my profile picture. After all of the craziness of this we watched the other two artists, then, it was finally time for them to come onstage. Coming out, the vocalist Andy LaPlegua was wearing an LED mask and somehow was able to scream through it and make it audible on the speakers. The guys were jumping around and going absolutely insane, they kept interacting amazingly with the crowd and they were doing an absolutely amazing performance that seemed surreal it was so incredible. The members of CombiChrist are some of the most insane and incredible guys you will ever meet, let alone just watching them play live. I definitely recommend going to see them play at any given chance, also, meet them if you can because they are so great!
This was probably my fourth time seeing Combichrist over the past 10+ years. Overall I was pleased with the show.
I missed the first opening act, Adoration Destroyed, but caught part of Lucid Dementia's set. After the usual 30+ minute set change time, Combichrist came on. As they had the full band and were promoting the new album, much of the focus was on the newer material. There was more of a metal emphasis in the setlist vs the older EBM style from the first few albums. They played for an hour and did only one song for the encore. The sound was good, energy was high, and they were in top form.
I would have liked them to play longer as they were the headliner. They didn't play much from the We Love You album, which was kind of surprising. It would have been nice to hear a little more of the first couple discs, but again it was promoting the new album.
For the money paid, the venue, and acts, it was a great experience. If you can catch them at a small venue, you'll be in for a treat!
My friend and I had an awesome time , and this actually was my first concert ever. We actually missed the VIP meet and greet that was actually at 4:00 p.m. A very nice guy was there selling the merchandise , t-shirts etc. Of course I knew I wanted to buy some stuff so I did and also my friend did , we spoke to him about the VIP , and he said it was at 4:00.We got there later . He spoke to the band for us and they were nice enough to meet with us. So I want to thank you guys alot for a wonderful show and always bad ass music, all of you were amazing . And I loved Scout Bar , the location felt like home to me , near a lake. I hope to see you guys again. You all are awesome live and love you so much
Combichrist has great music and stage presence. The show is amazing. The drummer is a hoot to watch, as toms and sticks go flying all over the stage. (I'd hate to be his wranglers though!) Being part of a 5-band evening, they didn't get to play as long as I would have liked, but the show was still amazing for all that. I've seen them twice, and will happily go back for more, especially headlining shows.
I was in Line Knowing the Show was going to be Great. I was "RIGHT" the first set was good and here come Williamcontrol killing the show with new songs off his new CD. An MC came on and did some good mixes, and then Combichrist came on! WOW the place went insane with long intervals of horrible sanity. Baltimore loves Williamcontrol & Combichrist....
Combichrist! Hailing from Norway, now based in Atlanta Georgia! If you don’t like thundering beats, great keyboard and guitar hooks with eccentric band showmanship that makes you want to dance your ass off, then don’t bother coming...if you do, Combichrist will not disappoint! The only drawback was that they didn’t play long enough :-/
Amazing show as always!
Joey is a nut, but the most entertaining drummer/twerk queen ever.
Second time I've seen them at Slim's. Cool venue. Very personal and nice to be able to get close and meet the bands.
Glad to see them headlining this time.
Hopefully they come back to SF again soon.
Stole the show, imo. Tight powerful, properly menacing but also full of fun and stagecraft. Got the crowd going. Lots of smiles in the pit.
Played some faves, played some stuff I didn't recognize but always played something danceable. The generous hazing added some nice atmosphere.
The show was great as it was the last time they played here. Great music, sound, and energy. My fiancé and I won't miss the chance to see them any time their near. And thanks to Andy for taking the time to shake my fiance's hand and then mine. Awesome.
Exactly as you would expect them to be!
Lots of energy, great showmanship and of course great f***ing tunes!! Once they hit the stage the energy in the hall went crazy and everyone was dancing and having an amazing time.
Would see them over and over again!
