The band began in 1990, with the members brought together by their shared love of punk, whose popularity had begun to decline after hair metal, synth pop and new wave began to top the charts. The band’s lineup has seen constant changes throughout their career, with Jorge Herrera being the only long lasting member. It was not until 1991 that the band managed to stabilise enough to record their first EP, “40 Ounce Casualty.”
After this release, The Casualties toured heavily, building a loyal following in their hometown of NYC, US. Further lineup changes occurred and it was another three years, in 1994, that the band were to release another record, their second EP, “Drinking Is Our Way of Life.” This EP never saw a formal release but it was incorporated into their retrospective “Early Years: 1990-1995” which came out in 1999.
In 1996, they travelled to London, UK to perform at the Sun Festival. From here they started to build fans in the UK, expanding their fan base. In 1997, their debut full-length, “For The Punx” was released, followed by an extensive tour in support, opening for the band, The Varukers.
The Casualties constantly toured throughout the next decade, travelling all across the US and Europe. In 2000 and 2001, they released the albums, “Who’s In Control?” and “Stay Out of Order,” before moving to Side One Dummy Records to release “Die Hards.” These albums helped build the band’s popularity, eventually building to achieving a main stage slot on the Vans Warped Tour. Moving to the Season of Mist record label, they released their ninth album, “Resistance” in 2012.

Although they’ve been going since the early 90s, the street punk band The Casualties are still going strong and gave an incredibly tight performance in their recent show, staying true to their punk origins. Although Jorge Herrera is the only remaining original member, as he’s the front man, he’s managed to maintain the majority of the groups dynamics, and their sound was if anything, improves and refreshed by the new members of the band that have gradually joined over the years.
They opened the show with their oldest EP 40 Ox, Casualty, which was great as their demonstration that they hadn’t lost sights of their roots over the years. They then performed a selection of tracks from their later work, such as We Are All We have, and Resistance. Their performance was electric, with their punk energy being driven into crazy dance moves, a lot of jumping, and even some crowd surfing on their part. Their punk outfits also added to the performance, and their enthusiasm to remain stuck in the era was contagious, and everyone was dancing around in true punk style.
The got everyone in the audience singing and dancing along over the top of them bashing out crazy talented riffs and trills on their instruments. It was electric from start to finish.
There's definitely no chance you'll miss New York punk outfit The Casualties when you see them live as no matter where in the venue you are stood, you will see that incredible hair towering well above the crowds. The street punk quartet clearly feels very passionately about the music they create and every band member is equally invested, this is probably why they have remained in tact since the formation in 1990.
They have not achieved any major chart success after missing the punk revolution by around a decade but they have developed a cult following and embody a good amount of the rambunctious nature akin with the genre. There is no spectating at a Casualties gig, you are involved from the offset whether you are being ordered to clap along, mosh or jump and the whole crowd obliges due to the insane mannerisms of frontman Jorge Herrera. They keep the crowds entertained all evening with great music and a truly angsty sound which is pretty impossible not to head bang along to.
Im pretty pissed off that I had to sit through 2 hours of skate videos, and then watch a shitty video similar to jackass which has NOX in it. Then the metal band came in and they actually got their sound check right, but then Casualties came in and they were so fking out of tune and their back up mics weren't working, so i was pissed about that, i could barely make out the songs. The show itself was good, and fun, but im just pissed about the shit I had to sit through and how after all of that shit, they wouldn't even play ONE LAST SONG for us... BS.
Honestly one of the best shows! The casualties are great guys and are amazing artist. If you like hardcore punk and thrash, they're the band for you. They sell great merch dirt cheap and they will always tour with other great punk/thrash bands. Their shows are honestly the best and are always ready for crowd surfs, walls of death, and circle pits. I promise they wont disappoint you if you are able to see them. #PUNXUNITE
The Casualties always put on a fantastic show, and this time was no different. I was a little pensive about seeing them with a new lead singer but he does the band and their heaviness and their blunt messages justice! Interacting with the crowd and pumping everyone up is expected and constant, and there's a great message of unity. I highly recommend seeing them live and picking up any merch you can afford!
Friggin amazing the opening bands really set the mood and the casualties were sick man. We did a wall of death during the encore song and it was amazing! Evacuate, Sniper 66 and Bad Engrish all opened one after the other and were amazing by themselves. Friggin hilarious was Bad Engrish.
P.S: EmO is a derivative of hardcore punk. So Fuck you!!!
Very good concert. You can see it on my videos:

Had a great time at the show this Sunday. Hodi's half note always has awesome punk shows. And for a reasonable price as well. I'm never disappointed with The Casualties shows. Awesome venue with awesome bands to match.
Amazing show! They know how to keep the energy up, especially David! Speaking of which, him and Jake were super awesome guys, even wished me a happy birthday during the show! Great band who's even better live!
They played amaizing but the fucking owner and security were acting like dicks but overall after being pushed off of the stage by the bouncers it was fucking worth it
