Born ten minutes earlier than his twin brother Rupert in Wokingham, Berkshire in 1979, Young’s debut stage performance came at the age of four, playing the role of a fir tree in a school play. The singer’s interest in performance continued throughout university where he landed the role of Curly for the theatre group’s production of “Oklahoma!”. During his second year of university in 1999 Will Young send an audition tape to the producers of a new musical talent show, however ended up in an unsuccessful boy band alongside Lee Ryan, Declan Bennet and Danielle Barnett.
Two years later Young applied for the another talent contest, the then unheard-of “Pop Idol”. Putting his studies at the Arts Education School in Chiswick, London on hold, Young went on to become the first ever winner of the talent contest in 2001. The following year the household singer released his debut album “From Now On”, which rose to No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, selling close to 200,000 copies in its first week. Led by the singles “Anything Is Possible/Evergreen”, “Light My Fire”, and “The Long and Winding Road” / “Suspicious Minds”,
Expanding his fan base and popularity further, the singer’s sophomore studio album “Friday’s Child”, followed in 2003, later earning five-times platinum certification. The record spawned the Top Five singles “Leave Right Now”, “Your Game”, “Friday’s Child” and paved the way for his third full-length “Keep On” in 2005.
Three years later Young issued his fourth studio album “Let It Go”, following which the singer was propelled to the American mainstream when his single “Leave Right Now” was performed on “American Idol”. An exclusive American EP “Leave Right Now” was subsequently compiled, however failed to make many waves and Young returned his focus to the UK. Following a tour alongside Sophie Ellis Bextor in early 2011, Young released his sixth album “Echoes”, led by the Top 10 singles “Jealously”. After departing RCA/Sony in 2012, the singer signed with Island Records and released his debut with the label, “85% Proof”, in 2015.

When it comes to pop music I seem to have a special attraction to British artists. Will Young is one of those artists; the first time I heard him perform I needed to hear more and above all I needed to see him perform live.
I first heard him sing an acoustic version of Jealousy and I had goose bumps from start to finish.Do not look for a lot of flash and fanfare, as with a lot of pop performers these days, but instead look for pure music that moves you just as it is moving the artist.
You can see the emotion that Will is feeling, you know he is getting into each and every lyric even though he may have sung the song hundreds of times. I have seen Will perform in London and while he had an orchestra playing in the background, they did not overshadow his vocal performance but instead gave a smoothing rhythmic sound that kept the audience mesmerized on Will, especially as he sung “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know”, and yes by the end of the song I was truly mesmerized.
I cannot wait to see what this young man has coming up next and I hope to be front and center at another performance soon.
So disappointed, I bought tickets for my two friends as a gift and Will was on stage for 1 hour and 10 minutes. We were looking forward to the concert as I had seen him a few years ago in the O2 Academy and the show lasted much longer than last night. Will's voice was very good but the duration of the show was such a disappointment that I would not buy tickets for another of his concerts. I feel that we did not get value for money. In the advert for the show it stated that it would end at 10.30 and he left the stage at 10.05!!

Will Young was fantastic. He sang so many of his hits to an appreciative audience who were standing most of the time. His voice is sublime and although singing for 1hour 45 mins never ever lost his pitch perfect tone. He is also so funny
and kept his audience so entertained. His band was also brilliant. This was a wonderful evening and l did not want it to end. His energy was unbelievable. A truly great artist
The perfect Will Young. Beautiful voice, superb songs. I was surprised the new album didn’t feature more heavily, but I was with friends who were happy it was back catalogue heavy. There was no encore, but he could have come out for a dozen and still we would have wanted more. He surprised us with his outfits and made us laugh, and love him more. Please come back soon Will
What an amazing concert. Will's voice was absolutely incredible, just so smooth, then on the up beat numbers how could anyone sit still in their seats. I just hope we don't have to wait too long before his next tour. Also if you haven't bought his new CD go out and buy it,it will have you bopping around the kitchen/living room in no time _ it is certainly one of his best.
Just back from seeing Will in concert at Liverpool Philharmonic he was absolutely fabulous his voice is amazing and I just hope I don't have to wait too long before his next tour. An absolutely fabulous evening - thank you Will please come back to Liverpool soon xxxxxx
I have seen Will Young so many times, I have lost count. I have got all his c.ds. and books, some autographed. I have seen Will Young 3 times in Warwick, be fourth time on 3rd July 2025. Such a lovely singer. Wow, fantastic voice
Unfortunately due to the bad weather, torrential rain together with lightening on Friday night we never got to see or hear Will Young! The concert was cancelled before he came on stage, we were all very disappointed.
An amazing night with the soooooo talented Mr Young! Vocals totally on point and a wonderful cheeky sense of humour! Loved it! Would highly recommend anyone to go see him and have a fab night out!
Will was brilliant as usual but the mixing was wrong as the band were louder than his voice which was a pity. Apart from that it was a brilliant show but shorter than I have seen before.
