Hey Colossus

This event was originally meant to be held at DINGWALLS, CAMDEN, but for some reason it was moved to DOME, TUFNELL PARK 2 days before the event. I overheard a guy tell another it was because DINGWALLS had double booked. Considering the tickets went on sale on 31 May it was a fine time to find this out. There is/are clearly an or some idiots somewhere.

This was my first time at DOME, and hopefully my last unless push comes to shove. It's an absolute poop hole of a place in more ways than one.

It was great to see people from all ages and backgrounds. The place was packed full and it was a fantastic atmosphere.

I *LOVE* PART CHIMP and HEY COLOSSUS, so it was great to see them gig together. Never heard of GNOD before but they appeared to have a good sound so will check out their studio work.

The whole event was frigging awful from start to finish, and the main reason is because the instruments were so/too loud that the vocal couldn't be heard. I've seen PC and HC before at different venues and the sound was awesome at both. The person on the sound desk at the back needs to be hung, drawn and quartered times 100. However, I am surprised that the vocalists in each band didn't say something during their sets, which each lasted for about 45 minutes.

I will, of course, see PC and HC again, and hopefully they won't play DOME again, either separately or together.

In theory a fantastic night was ruined in practice. I should demand a refund for a travesty of an event.

I WOULD RECOMMEND THE BAND TO ANYONE WORTH THEIR SALT AND I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND YOU GO OUT 'N' PURCHASE THEIR NEW LP GUILLOTINE - WHICH, ALONG WITH THEIR RECENTLY EMBRACED BLACK & GOLD ALBUM, IS A SIDE STEP, COMPOSITIONALLY SPEAKING (SIC),FROM ALL THAT HAS PRECEDED.
MY HOPE THAT THE BAND WOULD BECOME A LOT LOUDER AND ABRASIVE SEEMS TO HAVE FALLEN ON DEAF EARS - LITERALLY SO, AFTER 100 CLUB EVENT...
NOTHING STANDS OUT AS WORTHY IOF NOTE - SAVE THE FACT THAT THE BAND ARE A TIGHT AND WELL OILED UNIT CHURNING OUT REMARKABLY DECENT GOODS FOR A MUSIC WEARY WORLD...

Still coming down after seeing them a couple evening ago at the Label Mates Festival - I hadn't previously given their back catalogue enough time, but my partner in musical crime recommended we head to Oslo(Hackney) to catch them as the early act of the evening - and oh boy, I could've kissed him.
I was duly rewarded with an unforgettable set of non-stop exploration dirge and rhythm, and to top it off it was LOUD.
I'll be paying Hey Coloussus a lot more respect from now on and am looking forward to seeing them live many times.

Highly recommended across genre's, if you like loud guitar attack & motorik pace then you're in for a treat.
