I will never tire of Teenage Fanclub. No matter how many times I see them live. They’re the perfect melodic power pop band. Watching them is like being snuggled up in a duvet in front of the fire - there’s nothing more comforting.
Their brand of infectious pop never seems to date - like the Beach Boys and Big Star before them, and other bands like The Pastels that came out of the C86 scene.
Despite its bleak industrial roots, Glasgow always has a knack of rearing the sweetest, twee-est indie pop bands - from Belle and Sebastian to Camera Obscura. With a catalog of brilliant albums going back nearly 25 years, there’s no shortage of hits when they perform - “The Concept”, “Sparky’s Dream”, “Your Love Is The Place Where I Come From”. Every song featuring those tell-tale jangly guitars and harmonious vocals.
Norman, Gerard and Raymond all share writing duties and you get to see them all in action during a live set, splitting up the set-list evenly between all three melody-makers. There’s so much adoration and love from the audience that you always come away from a show feeling warm and happy inside - like you’ve just guzzled a mug of hot chocolate.
