The Rifles are simply one of the most under-rated bands in this country. The atmosphere the band manages to produce from the crowd at every gig I've seen them play is up there with the best, yet they dont have to rely on gimmicks to do it, they let the music do the talking. Whether it's the lively "Heebie Jeebies" or the more delicate "Spend A Lifetime", you'll never find a band playing them the same passion.
I have never failed to be impressed by them, whether it be at a packed to the rafters Shepherds Bush Empire, an early stage time at a wet V Festival or playing to about 100 people at a cosy, intimate Christmas gig at the Boogaloo in Highgate. The Boogaloo gigs are usually the highlight of my year as it's more of pub singalong/party than a gig!
If you think you've never heard the Rifles music you'll be surprised to learn that tracks have probably found their way into your home already. Tracks have often been featured on Sky's football coverage, in Gavin and Stacey, on TV adverts and, most recently, on the jukebox in the Vic in Eastenders. Famous fans such as Paul Weller and Liam Gallagher give you an indication of what sound to expect from a Rifles gig. The Jam for the 21st century.
