Had the absolute pleasure of seeing the Johns with Sean Dagher on Mother's Day in 2023 in Alexandria, VA. The Birchmere is the perfect little venue for a show like this where you are encouraged to sing along with 500 new friends. Robbie wasn't present (visa issues), but JD and Andy put on a great show with Adam of Home Free.
Y'all, they sound amazing live.
Every note had energy, there were some fantastically silly moments (Antonio making sure we had some extra sin in Oak, Ash, and Thorn), some touching ones (all the phone lights during Ashes), and JD's bass during Skadi's Hammer is enough to get in your bones and make you believe in the magic of music. The lads were available to meet afterward and were kind and sweet even though you could tell they were tired.
They're lucky I'm not rich, because I would follow them around like the Grateful Dead lol. If you have even the slightest inkling to see them in concert, absolutely do it. You won't regret it and will be riding that high for days. And, if you're lucky like we were, you'll come away with a newfound community as well.
And you might get really REALLY lucky and get a MUTINY! too!
