I’m an absolute sucker for live DJs, and techno music is my absolute favourite genre. It’s evident in Danny Daze’s performance that he has been practicing his technique and mastering his skills since a young age, and so I wasn’t surprised to hear that he’s been playing at parties and events since the tender age of 13. Daze’s Cuban influences make his style original and exciting, fusing popular electronic dance music with traditional Latina influences on the tracks. He opened the show with a track from his super popular collaborative group Senor Stereo that he recorded with Gigamesh, and Joe Maz. That immediately had everyone in the crowd dancing like crazy and singing along, and it was a great way fro Daze to open his set.
He played a great mixture of tracks from his own recordings, to collabs, and remixes to keep the audience engaged throughout the show. Daze was great at interacting with the audience, and he kept shouting out for everyone to dance, which kept the energy high. Of course DJ sets are always super fun, but sometimes it’s easy to forget that it’s live music, but Daze was using a sample pad and a synth, constantly improvising over his own tracks, which was a really innovative touch to the show.
