Sister act, Aly & AJ each respectively ventured into the acting appearing prominent within Disney projects which then led to their involvement with Hollywood Records. Appealing to teen pop-rock audience, they released their debut album “Into the Rush” in 2005 which certified gold in the US. The album featured “No One” which eventually ended up on the soundtrack of Disney’s “Ice Princess”. Having caught the attention of the industry they were finally acknowledged as serious musicians demonstrated through their nomination in 2006 at the American Music Awards for Contemporary Inspirational Artists of the Year. Subsequent releases allowed them more creative freedom which saw the duo experiment with a more mature and electronic pop sound most prevalent in their 3rd album release “Insomniatic” featuring tracks such as “Potential Breakup Song” and “Like Woah” There’s a real honesty in their performances, you can clearly see that the lyrics they have written come from the heart, particularly resonating when they break down the set acoustically performing tracks like “No One” and “Something More”. Having more of a teen girl appeal is not necessarily a bad thing, music has the ability to connect to audiences on so many levels as they find some relation to the lyrics and sentiments attached to the song. So it’s no wonder that the majority of the audience can relate to Aly & AJ who appear just like them, sharing similar experiences and feelings. Whether it’s the more upbeat material or acoustic, Aly & AJ prove that family does it better.
