The whole genre of techno and all its sub-genres have been around for over 20 years. One of the pioneers of quality trance and dance is DJ Sneak. His music has the ability to take the listener to many places, real and imaginary, regardless of the state of sobriety at the time of the listening.
His albums are supremely entertaining to listen to, but don't expect to hear a seam in the tracks, they run together to make the whole album one gigantic trip through my mind. I love listening to him as an alternate video game sound track, cleaning the house, or driving. I had the opportunity to see DJ Sneak back in the last 90s when the whole "rave" culture was popular.
A lot of other DJs were there as well since it was a concert/party that lasted for upwards of 12 hours, all of them had their own "gimmick" of sorts to go along with their sets. DJ Sneak, however, let the music speak for itself. He took his stage and tables in an unassuming manner, with no flashy lights or costumes, and started his set. The mere simplicity of the visual allowed the complexity of the music to take me (and the rest of the crowd) over. What an awesome DJ.
