Biografia
The name Gesaffelstein, a portmanteau of Gesamtkunstwerk and Albert Einstein, has become an esteemed artist associated with more than proficient producing and remixing. Lévy made his producing debut in 2008 with the releases “Vengeance Factory” and “Modern Walk” and subsequently his remixing debut in 2009 on the tracks “So Glad” by I Am The Cosmos and “Lump” by F+S in his native France.
As the DJ and producer has become more well known in the industry through honing his skills and developing his catalogue, Gesaffelstein has been able to work and collaborate with more high-profile artists. In 2010 Lévy remixed tracks for a host of artists including Cassius, Sei A, Chateau Mermont, David Carretta and Ali Renault and released his own “Variations” mini-album the same year through Turbo records. Since then the DJ has provided remixes for the likes of Lana Del Rey, Justice, Depeche Mode, Phoenix, Moby and The Hacker, the latter of which featured on the computer game Grand Theft Auto V. Through such high-profile remixes and increasing attention online Lévy produced two tracks “Black Skinhead” and “Send It Up” on Kanye West’s sixth studio album “Yeezus” alongside West, Daft Punk, Brodinski and Mike Dean.
Gesaffelstein’s debut full-length album “ALEPH” arrived in 2013 released jointly through Parlophone Records and EMI Music. The album received generally positive reviews and featured the singes “Pursuit” and “Hate or Glory”.

My boyfriend is really into heavy music, so I got him tickets to a Gesaffelstein concert for his birthday. He was so excited! We got there and the venue was absolutely GIGANTIC- had to have been thousands of people.
The stage was like a small light in the distance, but we could hear well. The venue started out pitch black with just the light in the center, and the music built up until suddenly... NOTHING. And then brilliant, bright pyrotechnics and I realized the stage was much closer than I'd thought- they'd only had a small portion of it lit so it looked further.
The beat started going faster, and then they were singing as the lights flashed. There was what looked like a DJ stand on stage, with a man standing in it. The spotlight shined on him and the music stopped, and then started up heavy again. The crowd was going absolutely crazy, The music and lighting corresponded perfectly and everyone was screaming, it was so incredibly perfect and in sync that I'm pretty sure the DJ was controlling both!
By the time the lyrics started I already got why my boyfriend loves them. I might not usually like this kind of music but I'll gladly go to more concerts like this with him.
Mike Lévy comes from the land of techno so it really is no surprise that his electronica project Gesaffelstein is considered to be so successful. The French artist has been chosen to work alongside varied clientele including ASAP Rocky, Lana Del Rey and Phoenix and between his commitments as a producer and remixing artist he still manages to take to the road from time to time on headline tours and performing at some of the biggest events across the globe.
Although it often looks like Mike is in a very deep zone whilst behind his mixing decks, he does notice the crowd cheering and roaring as he builds and builds his ambient music before dropping at lightning pace. The lights change from hazy pinks and purples to an aqua blue as he goes for some deeper trance mid-set and the jumping suddenly changes to the whole crowd moving to the permeating deep bass. His famous remix of 'Blues Jeans' by Lana Del Rey goes down fantastically with the gathered audience and they go completely wild causing the brooding musician to allow himself a huge grin as he looks out on the sea of blue lights and happy dance revellers.
Hey guys,
I am a really big fan of Gesaffelstein but I have to say that last weekend when I went to Lausanne I just saw him for one hour, maybe a bit more. I was expecting a much longer concert.. so if you go to see him in Zurich you may become disappointed by the short presence on stage. Anyway, even short the concert was great!
Gesaffelstein sure knows how to get the place going, always plays a great set. Have seen him 4 times and always needed to be front row and see him smoke those cigarettes in hopes of him ashing his cigarette on me or sweating on me. He always is amazing and i don't think i would ever miss him if hes in town.
