Growing up with his mother in East Berlin, Paul states his musical education was derived from the radio where he would listen to forbidden Western stations such as RIAS (Radio In the American Sector) and SFB (Free Berlin Radio). Starting out in the early 1990s it didn’t take Van Dyk long to find his footing in Berlin's dance club scene following the fall of the Iron Curtain. Hard-htting, industrial-orientated Detroit techno music was the sound of the era in Berlin, Germany and Van Dyk one of its pioneers.
Van Dyk’s debut album “45 R.P.M.” was released in Germany in 1994 and in England and America four years later in 1998. The rerelease was marked by a remix of the song “For An Angel” and also payed homage to the now debunked trance club ‘E-Work’. The album was well-acclaimed although his second album “Seven Ways” released in 1996 cemented Van Dyk as a leader in the trance-music scene, gave him a mainstream audience, and represented his first real success in the UK. The album features the tracks “Beautiful Place,” “Forbidden Fruit,” and “Words,” which became staple songs on dance music charts and floors all over Europe, featuring cosmic flourishes and blissful payoffs setting Van Dyk apart from his DJ peers.
Famous for his anti-drug stance Van Dyk is known for not drinking anything stronger than energy drink with vodka and led to t-shirts reading "No E, Pure PvD” appearing at his gigs. He is also known for hosting huge rave-style parties across the world, DJing for seven-hour stretches at a time and still finds time to manage his own label, Vandit Records.
Since “Seven Ways” Van Dyk has released five more studio albums, three remix albums, four video albums, has been featured on TV shows such as Scooby Doo, contributed to film soundtracks including Han Zimmer’s “The Dark Knight” as well as being feature on multiple video games. This shows the extent to which Van Dyk is entrenched within contemporary culture and the intimidatingly-long list of awards he has won speaks volumes to his value and respect he is giving within the industry.

LOVED IT!!! The event itself was held at a downtown club//establisment named Opera…the atmosphere was exotic and sexy!! PVD's performance thats the stuff of LEGENDS!!! He went on at about 12:45am and continued performing until 3am, playing all of his songs, and of course at the end playing HIS longtime classic of TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL…(with a much wilder and more FUN of a twist too))..I was dancing and Dancing some more the ENTIRE time!! All the time enjoying myself and meeting NEW friends!! His performance had it all!! He keeps the crowd moving and singing and dancing, he has always carried himself with such CLASS and character!! At the end of HIS performance, he took at 30 more minutes to allow fans to take self ies and pictures with him again just shows all of HIS selfless acts as a person and performer ((which you do NOT always get from stars at this level!!
He also even took the time to sign autographs and flags as well!! ( As he is from Germany) Dueschland!
These are just the many exposers and experiences that I had at this WONDERFUL event!! I LOVED IT!! Paul Van Dyk, to me has always been an instrument for change and positive vibes…I have been a Fan since the beginning (which began since at least 1987//1988 depending on who you ask…but no the less All of his performances are powered with GREAT energy…GREAT MUSIC and GREAT Atmosphere as well!! Paul Van Dyk 's shows are always one NOT to miss…You'll have a wonderful time and you will leave NEVER disappointed!! There's only some bad news….
The bad news…THE performance and the show had to END>>>>> There's always a part me that just never wants it to end or stop, but it does, but that does not mean my FANDOM ever will!! Please if there are other parties and people that are out there reading this, please see the WONDERFUL enjoyment that I have gotten out of Paul's shows and events , and I do hope that this review and message finds each one of you WELL and please take the time someday when and where you can to go and see him in concert//live..if not please I encourage anyone to youtube him, or go directly to his web site and listen to some of his WONDERFUL Vonex Sessions, HE usually does these weekly as well…

I caught Paul van Dyk in person at Ruby Skye in San Francisco, California when he came to town earlier this year. The venue is this amazing little nightclub that’s known for hosting great electronic dance music acts, and German Grammy Award-winning DJ Paul van Dyk is certainly no exception.
Given that the venue caters to EDM, it came with all of the typical accessories you’d expect: fog machine, cool-looking sculptures, and flashy lasers all over the place. It was great listening to such a talented performer that’s come all the way from across the world; he’s probably the most celebrated EDM performer that I’ve ever been able to experience in person.
The crowd definitely showed their appreciation for the great music as well, and we all had a sublime night dancing all of our worries away. As you’d expect from this type of music, the crowd was made up of basically young, really attractive people who just want to have a good time. Paul van Dyk is touring the United States right now, so make sure to check this legend of trance and EDM out if you’re at all interested in EDM and want to just have a fun night dancing.
Matthias Paul better known by his stage name Paul van Dyk is one of Germany's most successful exports of trance/techno after scooping a Grammy award for his contribution to the Dark Knight soundtrack. Away from his cinematic sounds, he creates high quality dance music that has seem him rocket to the top of some of the most prolific dance events across the globe.
Thousands of revellers huddle beneath his stage before the insane light show begins and flames erupt on the screen below. Paul appears behind the decks, glow sticks are raised and the party begins. He has had a long career, his first single was released back in 1994 so you would imagine Paul would play a 'greatest hits' set of sorts whereas instead the confident DJ chooses quality over quantity playing around seven or eight extended tracks which he knows will cause mass pandemonium in his crowd.
He gets it completely right as the strobes rain down during 'Time Of Our Lives' and the crowd are jumping in unison which gives them the impression of being one living, partying entity. An expert in dance and a live performer who is assured to get a crowd moving.

I have been a fan of Paul van Dyk since 1999. Unfortunately I moved up north to a small town and did not have the ability to go and see him in concert I'm places like Los Angeles. However I have consistently listen to his music for 15+ years and loved and love his music the entire time. He is without a doubt the most exceptional DJ and producer of electronic/trance music around. He has a way of touching you inside, affecting every emotion one can experience. He is an absolute influence of my life in a myriad of ways. Seeing him live on September 25th was absolutely life changing for me and without a doubt the best concert I have ever been to. He exudes such absolute passion for his music and it comes through the entire time he is present. His concert was powerful, exciting, thrilling, and he is a phenomenal showman. I would rate this a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm absolutely addicted. And I will go out of my way to see every show that I can now that I'm back in California. Completely amazing! From To an Angel…to This is the Time of our Lives..to every point in between….this individual has always been very progressive and forward thinking in his CRAFT….my Favorite of ALL TIME!! I am sooooo excited about seeing him in concert!! For those of YOU who don't understand or know who he is ……I encourage you to use technology online or YOUtube him or find out in any way that YOU can….who he is and his work….YOU will be excited and impressed…this artist has been doing this longer and wiser more than MOST…he's a trail---blazer…way before the Calvin Harris' and others of todays time!!
He's very much still rolling and rocking and relevant as well..I look forwards to seeing everyone there!!!

Durante esos años lo fui a ver a sus sesiones, ya que vivo en Valencia, y está cerca de la isla de IBIZA, y cuando ha estado en alguna ciudad de España he ido a verlo, como el año pasado, que estuvo en la ciudad de VALLADOLID, y fuera de España le fui a ver a LONDRES y a PARIS. Pero lo mejor todos los jueves que pinchaba en AMNESIA (IBIZA) y cuando acababa sus sesiones le esperaba por la parte de atrás de amnesia y cuando salía con su equipo para marcharse siempre pude hablar 2 minutos con M. PAUL, para darle las gracias por sus sesiones, además super educado. GENIAL SIEMPRE PURE PVD

An absolute God of the Trance world! Paul completely rocked the set at Cream Liverpool's 27th Birthday bash! We were right at the front and Paul managed to keep the crowd completely pumped throughout. Proper entertaining as he jumped up and down as he dropped every tune! This shows his complete passion for music and his love to keep the crowd jumping through the night! I hadnt seen Paul Van dyk since Millenium Eve Don Valley Stadium, he appears to have gone from strength to strength with time scarily 20 years later! This completely backs up his music portfolio, especially more recent bangin tunes.... "Shine" need I say more Mr PVD! #Legend. Thank you for an amazing night!

This event was one of the main events on the opening night of ADE'14. And it was EPIC! A good joint venture between 2 Trance-legends and their respective labels, Paul Oakenfold & Paul van Dyk teared off the roof, with Simon Patterson and closer Jordan Suckley sandwiching the main-eventers in style. Good party for a very affordable price. Their labels should teamup @ events more often!

The concert was PURO FUEGO!!! from the minute he first started spinning all the way until he finished. Me and my date had an AMAZING time. Dancing, hugging, and just being free with the music VIBEZ.!!! I recommend this concert for anyone who is seeking a Great Musical Experience.

Absolutely amazing pure uplifting TRANCE!!! The music takes you on a journey with a sense of elation, serenity, pure bliss which is truly an unforgettable experience....The melodies, the harmonious rhythms and pounding beats lifts the spirits to a euphoric breakdown!!!
