Micah P. Hinson has the ability to combine Americana and country music in such a unique way that I knew when he came to town that I had to see him play. He came to the stage by himself with just his bright blue electric guitar and waved at all of us in the crowd and thanked us for attending. I had a person with really big hair in front of me so some of the time I had trouble seeing Micah but I was able to move around and enjoy the show. He had just released his self titled album and I thought that Micah looked very well dressed to present and perform songs to promote himself. Looking around the crowd there were all kinds of people from what looked like rocker guys to country boys to model type girls. It showed me that Micah is one of those artists that is loved by many people and has fans of all genres. Micah played many songs off of that album and the crisp tone of his guitar matched his stunning voice. I was not expecting his voice to sound so great live but it did. Micah personally thanked each of us in the crowd for being there by point at us and saying thanks for coming. He did this to about thirty people including me even though I was not directly in the front row. I learned from this experience that there are still artists out there that create music that appeals to all people around the area.
I love Micah P. Hinson. Even if his name is awkward to say to anyone. This was the third time I've seen him. First time with backing (drums and bass - but not that kind!). He was in a bit of a dark mood and the over-enthused fan at the front didn't help his mood much - but was entertaining for the rest of us!
I wasn't familiar with his new music and it leaned a bit more towards rock than alt-country, but luckily he pulled out a couple of classics which kept me happy. Always entertaining.
