Biografia
Since his work with 90s trio Company Flow, EL-P has been driving forward alternative hip-hop through his uncompromising push for innovation and intelligent , lyrical flow, championing a lo-fi aesthetic as an antidote to the overproduced mainstream that dominates the airwaves. His rapping style is dense and aggressive and full of rhythmic variation and metaphorical wordplay, making him one of the most technically talented MCs around. As a producer, he is equally talented and progressive, creating tracks that are often intense and claustrophobic in the same vein as Public Enemy, with a definite futuristic sound.
After his work with Company Flow, EL-P featured on a number of collaborations in the 90s, with the likes of Mos Def, Blackalicious and Dilated Peoples. At the turn of the millennium, he set up his own label, Definitive Jux, still finding time to create a solo release, titled "Fantastic Damage" (2002), which was received positively by critics. 2004's "High Water," part of the Blue Series project, was a futuristic jazz apocalypse, featuring the talent of jazz pianist Matthew Shipp. His second full length album featuring his production was 2010's "I'll Sleep When You're Dead," which featured the Mars Volta, Trent Reznor and Cat Power.
In recent years, together with Killer Mike, the pair have found widespread critical acclaim, with the pair's socio-political lyrical commentary and hard-hitting, gritty production. Their first collaboration was with "R.A.P Music" in 2012, after which they formed the group, Run The Jewels, releasing two albums, 2013's self-titled release and 2014's "Run The Jewels 2." In between these releases, EL-P also recorded his album, "Cancer4Cure" which again received positive critical acclaim, establishing EL-P as one of the most talented and innovative musicians around today.

Live hip-hop shows can be a true struggle for both the artist and the fans. Even with the great songs the show can be rather dull without the perfect amount of charisma and stage presence.
Thankfully El-P has everything in his arsenal to deliver a memorable hip-hop concert for everyone. El-P came into prominence because of his production work and chances are you’ve heard a song that he produced or are familiar with the artists on his own record label, Definitive Jux. With 3 solo records under his belt though he’s not afraid to record his own music and hit the stage with his aggressive independent hip-hop.
Like most MCs El-P will take the stage with an array of supporting characters and if you’re fortunate enough some of his Def Jux crew or friends may show up on stage with him, anyone from Aesop Rock, Killer Mike, or Despot has been known to show up and perform with him.On his own though, El-P has a distinct ability to control the crowd and keep them entertained throughout his sets.
While the crowds are ecstatic to see one of the greatest independent rappers of the 2000s, no one is happier to be there than El-P himself and you can see this through his body language. On top of his solo tours El-P has been frequently performing with Killer Mike as part of Run the Jewels, a duo who released a free album in 2013 that was very well received critically.
