Kosheen, one of the UK’s booming live electronic music showstoppers, broke into prominence in 2001 with their hit “Hide U” from their platinum-selling debut album 'Resist', followed by crossover hits ‘Catch‘, ‘Hungry‘ and ‘All In My Head‘. Kosheen successfully placed two UK Top Ten albums, topped the UK and European music charts and earned multiple awards with their unique blend of breakbeat rhythms of drum’n’bass to a more traditional songcraft, a side of the band embodied by singer and songwriter Sian Evans.
With five studio albums, the band built a reputation as one of the most iconic live acts of their time.
After a hiatus from touring, Sian Evans used the opportunity to reinvent the band’s live shows, elevating their performances to new creative heights. Her unmatched ability to connect with audiences through flawless vocals, boundless energy, and charismatic stage presence breathed new life into Kosheen’s music. This renewed passion brought the band back in 2019, where they headlined numerous UK and European festivals and world-class events.
Since then, Kosheen has continued to deliver some of the most powerful and passionate live performances of their career, thrilling audiences with their dynamic sound and reformed line-up.
In 2021, Kosheen marked a significant milestone with the “Resist 20th Anniversary Tour,” celebrating their iconic debut album. This tour was nothing short of legendary, a groundbreaking milestone for the band that reignited the passion of fans and earned widespread acclaim for the band’s powerful performances
By 2023, Kosheen celebrated their 25th anniversary with an massive UK tour spanning 25 shows, revisiting their best tracks and reaffirming their standing as pioneers in live electronic music. In April 2024, they took it to another level, performing three exclusive shows alongside a full orchestra — a first in their history and a landmark moment for their fans in the UK.
Currently, Kosheen is on a European tour, delivering the most powerful and refined shows of their career, captivating audiences and proving that their legacy remains as vibrant and impactful as ever.
Kosheen are a truly British band, in the respect that their members hail from England, Wales and Scotland; they’re based in Bristol, however, and whilst they haven’t been an active band for quite as long, it’s difficult not to think that they haven’t always been kind of in the shadow of another trip hop band from that same city - Portishead. Nevertheless, over the course of a fifteen year career to date, Kosheen have met with plenty of success; the band, named after a combination of the Japanese words for old and new, have certainly focused more on the latter down the years, pushing the boundaries with a consistently fresh sound ever since dropping their old-certified debut Resist in 2001; the lead single from the album ‘Hide U’, went to number six on the UK charts. Despite that success, though, they’ve kind of flown under the radar since; granted, the follow-up album to Resist, Kokopelli, also went gold, but they remain a cult band, with their hardcore following packing intimate rooms for their gigs. The focal point of their shows is the commanding stage presence of singer Sian Evans, who’s ethereal vocal tones generate atmosphere by the spade; it’s something she continued to bring to proceedings at shows in support of last year’s Solitude.
