Community features strongly, local artwork covers the walls, they have small bands in and if you’re good you can play the piano (ask first!). They run a regular story time on Sunday mornings, usually around 10am, so you can drop over and have a coffee while your little ones get read to for free. It’s nice and worth doing. Spiral Cafe is hippy heaven, if you’re from Nelson you’ll love it. I kid, mostly, I love Nelson to bits but I could never get into the Spiral vibe. The locals form a tight clique and it’s pretty non-inclusive. The location is great though, opposite Banfield Park which has Tennis Courts and a great kids playground, the whole park is right on the gorge and has a trail right round it, if you go across the trestle you can reach Glo Europub.
