If you’re of a certain age in the UK, there’s probably no way you could’ve avoided hearing ‘Toca’s Miracle’; in fact, that’s a statement made all the truer by the fact that it was apparently deemed so good that they released it twice. After first topping the charts in 2000, selling over 500,000 copies, the track would later be re-released, in remixed form, in 2008, and proved itself to be that rarest of things; a chart smash that hadn’t aged a day, years later. The masterminds behind the track were German trance group Fragma, comprised of three producers and a lyricist; British singer Coco Star leant the track vocals. To date, the group have only released two records, with their most recent dropping as long ag as 2002, but they’re apparently still a going concern, live at least, with YouTube footage suggesting that they’ve been active on the circuit as recently as 2012, when they played as far afield as Buenos Aires and Estonia. They appeared to be playing as a two-piece, with pre-programmed beats and a live vocalist, but with no official word from the group as to their current pursuits, it’s difficult to know precisely what the state of play is at present; it’s probably safe, though, to say that UK dates any time soon look like a remote possibility at best.
