Rock, gospel, soul and country. A really interesting mix. That's what the Soulsavers are about. Inspirational and thought-provoking lyrics along with a lead vocalist who seemingly channels a little bit of Mick Jagger. The percussionist is exceptional and on point. The venue was rather large considering the Soulsavers were performing at an outdoor music festival. The crowd started out somewhat sparse, but after the band got into their third to forth song numbers of people approaching the state steadily rose. I found the song Tonight especially touching. Didn't sound preachy, but the lyrics contained a meaningful message. At least, that is what I took away from it. Hauntingly dark and sort of melancholy, it's the type of music which lingers in your mind, heart, and soul. I swayed back and forth, felt fully captivated. Their performance of Presence Of God was another that stood out. So beautiful. Melodies were simple, yet really coupled perfectly with the lead singer's baritone vocal. The weather held out for the festival. It was supposed to rain. They said something like a 60 to 70 percent chance. But the weather remained clear and cool. It was so comfortable and we couldn't have asked for anything better for this experience.
