Stephen Kellogg has helped create some of my favorite musical “moments”... Any true music fan knows what I'm referencing; when you're so caught up in the words, the artist, the melody, the passion, the fleeting breath holding experience shared with the rest of the crowd, that it creates a magical moment which sticks with you long after the show has ended.
Stephen Kellogg has a way of invoking those snapshots of magic for me. He connects with his audience personally and humbly, putting himself and his heart out there for us all to sample and share. You'll hear his feelings in his words and see them in his expressions. You can witness the joy being there with us gives him. His face lights up and he smiles like we are all his best friends. In a way, in that moment, maybe we are.
I’ve seen Stephen Kellogg in numerous venues; cruise ships, family picnics, concert halls, dive bars, both alone and with a band. He shines like a diamond in every setting. His vocals are always crisp and clean and easy to understand, like a great story being spun to musical accompaniment. When he’s with a band, they have a way of using each other to amplify the energy and excitement and engage the crowd fully in the fun.
Like the cool kids at the center of a college party, just witnessing their revelry makes you want to step up your connection with everyone around you and just have a blast. When performing alone, he takes that deep interaction out to each and every audience member, engaging you with his smile and humor on the fun songs… drawing you into his heart that he carries on his sleeve for the serious ones. You leave feeling like you spent a great evening catching up with one of your oldest and closest friends.
Seeing a Stephen Kellogg show, alone or with a band, is like getting a little sampling of the best of America; your most neighborly neighbor, your closest cousin, your best friend from high school, and the person who inspires you to be your best and treat others right.. all rolled up in one experience.
You can’t help but feel better about yourself and everyone around you for a short little while. Do yourself a favor and go see Stephen Kellogg at a live show. Your heart will melt and you may just be a little better person to yourself and others when you’re done.
