Maria McKee? The founding member of the country rock band, Lone Justice? That’s fun. This songstress is one of those artists who featured on a fair few tracks, for example, “Sullivan Street” and “Mr. Jones” by Counting Crows from their August and Everything After album, also U2’s cover of Creedence Clearwater Revivals’s “Fortunate Son”, on their album, Achtung Baby. Quite a CV hey? Not only this. McKee and her husband, Jim Akin self released their first independent film After the Triumph of Your Birth through their own production company. Pretty cool hey! But lets talk about McKee’s performance this evening. Amongst the crowd there is quite a divide of people who know a lot about what she has done and what she stands for and most likely have brought along their friends saying “look you really need to check out Maria McKee, she is the real deal!” She opens with her track “I Found Love” , accompanied by just acoustic guitar and piano, and it really creates an immediate buzz amongst these patrons this evening. “Ways to Be Wicked”, is that fantastic sophomore song that really sets the pace, building up the energy of tonight’s set. “Show Me Heaven” is the song that stays on people’s lips. It’s the one that everyone leaves this venue singing, capturing the hearts of all of those involved. It’s no wonder that this track made it to number 1 in the UK.
