Lets be honest there is a singer songwriter on every street corner it seems, some big, some small, but they all have the common denominator of being a singer songwriter don’t they? Jason Reeves, is opening up for the chart topping Colbie Caillat this evening, I wonder why that pairing happened? What you may not know is that Reeves, is a singer songwriter, yes. BUT he is also a songwriter by trade, as in – writes a lot of songs with a lot of people, and they turn into hits. In fact, half of Colbie Caillat’s hits are because Reeves. “Bubbly”, “Realize” and “I Never Told You” are just a three of his huge catalogue.
Tonight he performs a slew of his own material, a lot of it un-heard of. He walks out, with a beautiful Martin guitar on his back. He performs the song “Simple Song” to start with, followed by “Save My Heart” two tracks from his album “The Lovesick”. Reeves is quiet and almost apologetic for being on the stage, but then welcomes Colbie Caillat for “No Lies”, absolutely bringing the house down. They perform a little mini set which breaks up the evening nicely, concluding his set on a beautiful duet of the song “Droplets”.
